SAN ANGELO, Texas – Midwestern State looks for their first win over No. 18 Angelo State in more than 11 years when the two sides meet on Friday night in San Angelo. Match time is 7 p.m.
SERIES HISTORY
Angelo State owns a 35-11 mark against Midwestern State and has won the last 21 meetings. MSU has not beaten ASU since October 30, 2008 and has not won more than one set from the Belles since September 20, 2013 (13 matches).
MASSETH'S MAKING HER MARK
Kaitlyn Masseth set a career-high with 22 assists against Texas A&M-Kingsville on October 25. The freshman followed up that performance with 21 helpers against Texas A&M International, making it the first time in her career she recorded back-to-back games of 20 or more assists.
GHOLSON GRABS A DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Rockelle Gholson smashed a season-high 17 kills in a 3-1 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville on October 25. The next time out, Gholson posted 10 kills and 13 digs to notch her sixth double-double of the season.
SCOUTING THE BELLES
Angelo State had their 11-match winning streak snapped with a 3-1 loss to Lubbock Christian on October 22. Prior to the loss, ASU had lost just four total sets during the winning streak. The Belles are a perfect 9-0 at home this season. Kailyn Gilbreath has recorded a team best 242 kills (3.36 kills/set) while Lindsey Ledyard has handed out 374 assists (5.19 assists/set).
COACH'S CORNER
Valerie Armstrong began her second season as Head Coach of the Midwestern State Volleyball team with a thrilling five-set win over Western State (Colorado) on September 6. In her first season at the helm, the Mustangs posted a 5-23 record and a 3-17 mark in the Lone Star Conference.
