WICHITA FALLS, Texas – It's a Lone Star Conference showdown on Saturday at Stang Park as Midwestern State hosts UT Permian Basin. Kickoff is at 5 p.m.
SERIES HISTORY
MSU leads the all-time series 8-1-1, but dropped last year's meeting with the Falcons, 2-1. Prior to the loss, the Mustangs had won five straight.
MORLOCK'S MISSILE
Imani Morlock blasted her second goal of the season in Thursday's loss to Lubbock Christian. The senior's strike from just inside the box accounted for Midwestern State's only goal of the game.
CLUTCH CANNISTRA
Kelly Cannistra recorded two goals, including the game-winner in last Thursday's win over Oklahoma Christian. It was the junior's first goals since she scored in back-to-back games to open the year. Cannistra is tied with
Sara Machado for the team lead in goals (4) and points (9).
SPENDING TIME WITH SPENCE
Ryan Spence opened his second season as the Head Coach of the Midwestern State Women's Soccer team with a 3-2 overtime win over New Mexico Highlands on September 6. In his first year in charge, the Mustangs finished 2-13-3 and 1-9-2 in Lone Star Conference action, earning a trip to the quarterfinals in the LSC Postseason Tournament.
SCOUTING THE FALCONS
After starting the 2019 season 0-9-1, UT Permian Basin earned their first win of the season on October 19 with a 2-1 win over St. Mary's. Last time out, the Falcons fell to Oklahoma Christian, 2-0, and have failed to score a goal in four of their last five losses. Kessie Stocker has scored two of the Falcons' six goals this season.
