@MSUMustangs blast Oklahoma Baptist in final non-conference matchup

THE RUNDOWN
SHAWNEE, Okla. – Second-ranked Midwestern State capitalized on four second half goals in a 5-0 rout of Oklahoma Baptist at the OBU Soccer Complex.

MSU Texas improves to 3-0-0 going into its conference opener next Thursday against Rogers State. The Mustangs ran their unbeaten streak to 26-consecutive matches and 11 matches away from Stang Park.

An own goal with just over a minute to go in the first half proved to be the game winner, although the Mustangs poured it on in the second half.

Junior Juan Ramirez added to the lead, drilling a free kick around the wall of defenders into the upper right-90 in the 60th-minute to push the score to 2-0.

Just a minute later, junior Gui Leme beat Bison keeper Parker Lawter on a penalty kick to stretch the lead to 3-0.

Late in the game, junior Sergio Lara picked up Dylan Burke on a cross and Bryan Ordonez scored off a deflection in the 81st minute to add insult to injury and finalize the score line.

Reigning Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Week Taylor Lampe posted his 10th career clean sheet as the MSU Texas back line limited the Bison to one shot on goal.
