WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Senior
Layton Rabb eclipsed his own school record throwing for 467 yards and five touchdowns to lead No. 7-ranked Midwestern State to a 57-36 win over Angelo State Saturday night at Memorial Stadium.
The Mustangs improved to 4-0 for the fourth consecutive year and for the 10th time in
Bill Maskill's 17 seasons as head coach behind a 654-yard offensive explosion.
Rabb improved on his 433-yard effort set in a win over Tarleton State last season, while throwing for five touchdowns for the fourth time in the last two seasons.
He had plenty of support as redshirt-freshman
Kylan Harrison caught five passes for a team-high 116 yards, while sophomore
Juwan Johnson notched his third consecutive 100-yard receiving performance going for 106 yards on six catches with his second touchdown of the season.
Junior
Xavier Land added four catches for 92 yards with a touchdown and a 2-point conversion, while redshirt freshman
Anthony Tennison scored a touchdown in his fourth striaght game finishing with three receptions for 54Â yards including a 45-yard sprint for a score.
Senior
Vincent Johnson got in on the act, as well, rushing for his third 100-yard performance of the season rolling up 159 yards on 20 carries with three TDs.
MSU Texas' 654 yards of total offense were the most since the team put up 667 yards last season at UT Permian Basin.
Angelo State, however, wouldn't go away as the Rams' volume attack needed 116 plays to amass 561 yards of total offense or 4.8 yards per play. In comparison, the Mustangs averaged 9.5 yards a snap.

Jaydon Cunigan led the Mustags with eight tackles each as the Mustangs combined for 12 stops for loss of the game.

Paul Manus delivered another solid performance with six tackles, including two for loss with a sack while intercepting his third pass of the season.

A'quan Randolph joined Manus with a sack apiece for MSU Texas.
