THE RUNDOWN
SAN ANTONIO – The 11th-ranked MSU Texas women's tennis team dominated Laredo Community College, 9-0, in its final preseason exhibition match at Rohrbach Stadium on the campus of St. Mary's in San Antonio.
 
The Mustangs coasted to a 3-0 edge in doubles, dropping only one game in all three matches combined. The duo of Greta Lazzarotto and Ashley Ramirez swept Jennifer Hundsnurscher and Monika Cantu-Esparza, 8-0, at the No. 2 line before MSU's tandem of Anna Claire Gerletti and Emilija Segetlija completed an 8-0 rout of Priscilla Morales and Tania Ramirez at No. 3. The Maroon and Gold stretched the lead to 3-0 when the fifth-ranked pair of Maddy Coffman and Bianca Duff beat Chantal Lozano and Kely Olivaria, 8-1, at the No. 1 spot.
 
It was much of the same in singles for Midwestern State, rolling to straight-set wins on all six courts. Duff reigned over Cantu-Esparza, 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 line, giving MSU a 4-0 lead in the match. Moments later, Lazzarotto secured the win with a 6-0, 6-1 win against Hundsnurscher at No. 3. Not to be outdone, Coffman fought off an early rally from Lozano, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 1 and Ramirez handled Olivaria, 6-0, 6-3 at No. 4. Segetlija and Gerletti completed the sweep, taking home a 6-0, 6-0 win over Ramirez at No. 6 and a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Morales at the No. 5 line.
