THE OPPONENT: Henderson State boasts an 8-2 with its losses coming at Missouri Southern (79-69 on 11/16) and at home against Arkansas-Monticello (79-70  on 12/15)… The Reddies won six of their last seven games heading into the Christmas break… Junior guard Pink Jones ranks sixth in the Great American Conference in scoring (17.6 ppg) and is third in assists (3.9 apg)… Jones boasts five games with at least 20 points this season including a high of 31 against Harding (12/8)… Jones earned first-team All-GAC honors as a sophomore last season leading the Reddies in scoring, assists and steals… Junior guard Hailey Estes averages 15.2 points and 8.7 rebounds per game posting double-doubles against Rogers State (22 pts, 10 reb.), Wiley (17 pts., 11 reb.) and Harding (14 pts, 12 reb.)… Junior guard Blu Jones scores 11.9 points per game accounting for double-figure points in six of 10 games… Pink and Blu Jones are twin sisters… Jill Thomas boasts a 74-77 record (.490) in her sixth season at the helm at Henderson State… Prior to HSU, Thomas led the Pfeiffer (N.C.) program for four seasons (2009-13) leading the Lady Falcons to an NCAA Regional Tournament showing in 2013 to earn Conference Carolinas Coach of the  Year honors…
 
LAST TIME OUT: Sophomore Hannah Reynolds led five players in double figures with 19 points, while juniors Mica Schneider (12 points, 12 assists) and Liz Cathcart (16 points, 11 rebounds) added double-doubles in a 95-36 win over UT Tyler on Dec. 19th at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Sophomore Kityana Diaz (15 points on 7-of-7 shooting) and Chelcie Kizart (10 points, 5 assists) also scored in double figures off of the bench.
 
ALL-TIME WINS LEADER: As the program's all-time coaching wins leader, Noel Johnson has posted a 142-143 mark (.498) in her 11th season at the helm. Johnson piloted the Mustangs to three consecutive NCAA Division II South Central Regional showings (2013, 2014, 2015) and a Lone Star Conference title in 2013. She earned LSC Coach of the Year honors in 2012 and was the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) Small College Coach of the Year in 2013.
 
FIVE ON HONOR ROLL: The Mustangs boasted five players on the Midwestern State Honor Roll for the Fall 2018 session. Junior Liz Cathcart, sophomore Kityana Diaz and redshirt-freshman Haevyn Risley garnered President's Honor Roll status with 4.00 GPAs for the semester, while senior Anni Scholl and junior Mica Schneider were on the Dean's Honor Roll (3.50 to 3.74).
 
TRENDS: Midwestern State goes for its first three-game winning streak since claiming four-straight victories heading into the Christmas break last season… The Mustangs rank in the top three in the Lone Star Conference in 11 different categories leading the league blocked shots (47 / 26th in D2), blocked shots per game (5.9 / 5th in D2), field goal percentage defense (34.8 / 24th in D2), free throw percentage (73.3 / 62nd in D2) and scoring defense (57.6 / 33rd in D2)… MSU Texas ranks second in the LSC in fewest fouls (147 / 31st), fewest turnovers (130 / 30th in D2) and field goal percentage (44.2 / 38th in D2)… The Mustangs rate third in the LSC in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.04 / 44th in D2), assists per game (16.9 / 26th) and steals per game (10.0 / 67th in D2)… Each of Midwestern State's three wins this season have come by double figures with average victory margin of 51.7 points… MSU Texas has out-rebounded the opposition in each of its three wins… The Mustangs have been whistled for fewer than 20 fouls in five of eight games this season…
