THE RUNDOWN
WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Angelo State's Trenadey Scott scored her Lone Star Conference leading 12th and 13th goals of the season to defeat Midwestern State in double overtime, 2-1. Scott beat MSU Texas keeper
Samantha Upton in a breakaway opportunity and finished in the open net to give ASU the golden goal win with 35 seconds to play.
Seniors
Brandy Villasana and
Taylor Robinson donned the Maroon and Gold for the final time at home, playing their finale at the MSU Practice Field due to unplayable field conditions at Stang Park.
Freshman
Senna Garcia staked the Mustangs to a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute.
Kelly Cannistra ran the ball down the right wing and crossed to Garcia over the far post. The Albuquerque product headed the ball past ASU's Kira Miller for her team-leading fourth goal of the season.
The Mustangs would go the final 82 minutes without putting a shot on frame.
With just under 13 minutes to play in regulation, Scott pulled ASU even. Avery McNeme dribbled the ball down the left wing and crossed the ball to the top of the box. Scott's shot struck true, finding the upper 90.
MSU Texas keeper
McKenna Williams snuffed out McNeme's attempt from the left wing in the 84th minute to keep the match deadlocked at one. The Forney native suffered an injury on the play and was lifted for freshman
Samantha Upton.
In the first overtime, freshman
Emma Baley served up a corner kick with 11 seconds remaining, but the Mustangs were unable to get a shot off.
With under a minute to play in the second overtime period, the Rambelles launched a counter attack. Cassandra Moosburger moved the ball to midfield and played it to Mackenzie Broderick. Broderick found Scott at the top of the box who caught Upton too far off her mark. Scott played the ball to herself and finished with her fourth game winner on the season.
