DENTON, Texas – Raven Powell's second career goal in the 34th minute was enough for Midwestern State to push past Texas Woman's in a 1-0 shutout Friday night at TWU Soccer Field as the Mustangs earned their first win in Denton since 2013.
Powell's second game winner of the season lifted the Mustangs in front at the 33:51 mark with a strike from inside the box. Powell's shot attempt was Midwestern State's (6-2, 2-1 LSC) final shot on goal of the night with the Mustangs placing three of their 10 on frame in the contest.
En route to collecting their fifth clean sheet of the season, the MSU back line weathered a second half push by Texas Woman's (3-5-2, 0-3-1) as the Pioneers totaled 16 shots with six on frame while Haley Ward's attempt in the 53rd minute hit the post.

QUOTE OF THE MATCH
"In the first half we looked pretty dangerous and scored a good goal. I think Destinee (Williamson) played a ball into the box and Raven (Powell) finished it quite well. We're a team that's just capable of weathering the storm. They (Texas Woman's) controlled the midfield for a long time and it was a good stand by our back four. It was a tough, gutsy performance." – Head coach
Damian Clarke
