Mustangs remain perfect in LSC play with 8-1 victory over Javelinas

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State extended its win streak to six matches and remained undefeated in Lone Star Conference action following an 8-1 rout of Texas A&M-Kingsville Sunday afternoon at the Wichita Falls Country Club.

Midwestern State (12-3, 2-0 LSC) opened the day with a doubles sweep, recording 8-1 wins on all three courts. Sophomore Greta Lazzarotto and freshman Ashley Ramirez were first off the court following a win at No. 3 to move to 13-3 on the season. The junior duo of Daria Panferova and Amy Clifton followed with a victory on court two to reach 10 wins with a 10-4 season record. The 15th-ranked Mustangs capped off the sweep with the No. 1 tandem of sophomore Maddy Coffman and freshman Bianca Duff pushing their undefeated record to 16-0 on the season.

In singles play, Duff stretched the MSU lead to 4-0 following a 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Valeria Ruiz at No. 3.

On court one, Panferova rallied from a first set defeat to clinch the match for the Mustangs with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Lisa Carvajal.

Victoria Romanovskaia tallied Texas A&M-Kingsville's (11-7, 1-2 LSC) lone point of the match, handing Clifton a 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 defeat at No. 2 singles.

MSU closed out the match with wins at the bottom of the lineup with Coffman cruising to a 6-1, 6-3 win over Julia Rauer on court four. Lazzarotto followed with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Stephanie Baerman at No. 5 singles before Ramirez pulled out a 6-1, 5-7, 10-4 decision over Vivian Ortiz at line six for the 8-1 final.

Midwestern State returns to action Tuesday with a 3:30 p.m. match against No. 43 Dallas Baptist at the MSU Tennis Center.
