WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State looks to carry its momentum following a 5-4 win over No. 11 Southwest Baptist (Mo.) into Lone Star Conference play Tuesday when the Mustangs play host to No. 43 Tarleton State at the MSU Tennis Center. First serve is set for 3:30 p.m.
MUSTANGS RANKED NO. 21 TO BEGIN 2017
- Midwestern State cracked the top 25 in the 19th-straight national poll two weeks ago with the Mustangs appearing at No. 21 in the Oracle/ITA Women's Division II National Team Rankings
- The Mustangs have been ranked inside the top 25 since Apr. 2013
- MSU remained at No. 21 in the national rankings after also coming in 21st in the country in the fall rankings released in November
- The Mustangs continued to stay third in the South Central Region rankings behind No. 9 St. Mary's and No. 17 Cameron while appearing in front of three nationally-ranked programs in No. 37 St. Edward's, No. 40 Dallas Baptist and No. 43 Tarleton State
A LOOK AT THE MUSTANGS
- Midwestern State comes in riding a two-match win streak after road wins over Northwest Missouri State (8-1) and No. 11 Southwest Baptist (5-4) last weekend for a 4-1 season record
- Freshman
Bianca Duff is ranked 19th in the country and second in the South Central Region in singles with a 4-1 dual record playing at No. 3
- Sophomores

Maddy Coffman and
Greta Lazzarotto have each posted three wins in singles play supporting the middle and bottom of the lineup
- The Mustangs have been strong in doubles play in the early part of the season with an impressive 13-2 record (.867)
- The duo of Duff and Coffman have posted a 5-0 mark at No. 2 while Lazzarotto and freshman
Ashley Ramirez are also undefeated at 5-0 on court three
SCOUTING THE TEXANNS
- Tarleton State enters Tuesday's matchup with a 6-2 overall record and 1-0 mark in LSC action following an 8-1 win over UT Permian Basin in the conference opener
- The TexAnns have setbacks to Southwest Baptist (5-4) and Division I Abilene Christian (6-1) on the season
- Tarleton State is ranked 43rd in the Oracle/ITA Division II National Poll and sixth in the South Central Region
- Junior Ashleigh Elward is the highest-ranked player for the TexAnns at ninth in the region playing at No. 3
- Junior Erika Johnston also appears in the regional rankings at No. 14 with a 3-3 record playing at the top position this season
- Freshman Tori Simmons has compiled a team-best 7-1 record playing primarily at No. 5 while freshman Alicia Barbaroux sports a 6-1 mark playing in the middle and bottom of the lineup this season
- In doubles, senior Luiza Ferraro-Adas and senior Elena Preadca carry a 5-2 record at No. 1 to rank 10th in the region
- Barbaroux and Simmons have also notched five wins playing at No. 3 with a 5-1 record
INSIDE THE SERIES
- Midwestern State carries an eight-match win streak against Tarleton State heading into Tuesday's meeting, leading the all-time series 20-13
- Tarleton last earned a win over the Mustangs on Apr. 20, 2012, at the LSC Championships before MSU earned a regular season win and a victory in the conference tournament over the next four seasons
