WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State returns to the MSU Tennis Center for a pair of matches Monday and Tuesday against NAIA Doane (Neb.) and No. 20 Ferris State (Mich.).
The Mustangs will look to snap a two-match losing skid Monday at 3:30 p.m. when they face off against Doane for the first-ever meeting between the two programs. On Tuesday, the Mustangs seek to avenge a 5-2 defeat to Ferris State in the 2016 NCAA Quarterfinals with a 3:30 p.m. matchup against the Bulldogs at the MSU Tennis Center.
MUSTANGS REMAIN AT NO. 15 IN NATIONAL POLL
- Midwestern State appeared in the top 15 in the country in the 11th-straight national poll two weeks ago, coming in at No. 15 in the Oracle/ITA Men's Division II Team Rankings
- The Mustangs stayed put at 15th after ranking in the same spot in the initial rankings of the 2016-17 season back in November
- MSU tops the South Central Region rankings, leading four other top-25 teams in the region in No. 16 Cameron, No. 23 St. Mary's, No. 24 Western New Mexico and No. 25 St. Edward's (Texas)
TOYOS REACHES 100 CAREER WINS

Ramon Toyos became the 11th Mustang in program history to reach 100 career dual wins Friday following a 6-2, 6-0 win over Northwest Missouri State's No. 38 Roman Boissinot
- The Torrelavega, Spain native moved his career record to 52-21 in singles and 48-27 in doubles following two matches over the weekend
- Toyos followed former teammates Kacper Boborykin (2015) and
Kyle Davidson (2016) to reach 100 wins with the Mustangs placing a player in the 100-win club for the third-straight season
A LOOK AT THE MUSTANGS
- Midwestern State dropped to 2-3 on the season after setbacks to No. 12 Northwest Missouri State and No. 19 Southwest Baptist (Mo.) over the weekend in Missouri
- Ferris State will be MSU's fifth top-25 opponent in six matches Tuesday as the Mustangs open up 2017 with eight of their first 11 matches against nationally-ranked competition

- Midwestern State will be the first NCAA Division II opponent on Doane's schedule, having played Division I Nebraska-Omaha last month
- Senior Kris Kiland is ranked 20th in the region playing at No. 1 singles for the Tigers with a 3-3 record
- Sophomore Ignacio Morell has posted a team-best 5-1 record playing primarily at No. 6 singles while sophomore Grayson McCartney is 4-2 playing at No. 3 for the Tigers
- In doubles, Morell and sophomore Arcane Boles are 5-1 at No. 3 while Kiland and McCartney have a 3-3 mark at No. 1

- Ferris State comes into Tuesday's match with the Mustangs with a perfect 6-0 record after defeating Cameron, 6-3, Sunday in Lawton, Okla.
- The Bulldogs are ranked 20th nationally and first in the Midwest Region after advancing to the NCAA Semifinals for the first time in program history last season with a win over Midwestern State in the quarterfinals
