WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The 15th-ranked Midwestern State women's tennis team won their fifth-straight match with a decisive 8-1 win over No. 42 St. Edward's Friday afternoon at the MSU Tennis Center.

The Mustangs (11-3) opened the day with a strong showing in doubles by taking all three doubles points. Juniors Amy Clifton and Daria Panferova were first off the court with an 8-2 victory over Laura Galvan and Valentina Martinez on court two. At No. 3 doubles, sophomore Greta Lazzarotto and freshman Ashley Ramirez picked up an 8-4 win over Anjali Sampath and Elisa Guillen.

Sophomore Maddy Coffman and Bianca Duff rallied from behind to pick up their 14th-straight win over Beth Hayward and Marissa Williams at number one doubles with a 9-7 score.

In singles play, Midwestern was first to strike as Panferova handed Sampath a quick 6-0, 6-0 loss on court one.

Coffman increased her win streak to seven with a 6-3, 6-2 score over Paola Carpio at No. 4 singles to clinch the match for the Mustangs just before Duff defeated Hayward 6-3, 6-4 on court three.

At No. 5, Lazzarotto pushed Midwestern's lead to 7-0 with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Williams while Ramirez outlasted Martinez, 6-3, 5-7, 10-7, on court six.

The Hilltoppers (8-9) picked up their lone point at number two singles as Galvan battled to a 3-6, 6-4, 10-8 win over sophomore Eirini Kontaki.

The Mustangs are back in action tomorrow as they take on 30th-ranked Auburn Montgomery at the MSU Tennis Center. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
