WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State will take on its ninth and 10th nationally-ranked programs of the season Saturday with matchups against No. 46 Oklahoma Baptist and No. 43 Newman (Kan.) at the OBU Tennis Courts in Shawnee, Okla.
The Mustangs get underway Saturday at 10 a.m. against host OBU before facing Newman in a 3 p.m. neutral contest.
LAST TIME OUT
- Midwestern State earned its second regional win of the season Tuesday at the MSU Tennis Center with a 6-3 victory over Metro State (Colo.)

Chris Norrie clinched the win for the Mustangs with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles as the Mustangs earned four straight-set wins in singles play while taking two of three matches in doubles
MUSTANGS SLIP TO 21ST IN LATEST NATIONAL RANKINGS
- Despite four wins over top-25 opponents through the first 12 matches of the season, Midwestern State's 7-5 record -- which includes four losses to top-20 teams and Division I TCU -- forced the Mustangs out of the top 20 in the national rankings for the first time since Mar. 2013
- The Mustangs fell six spots to No. 21 in this week's Oracle/ITA Men's Division II poll
- MSU remained atop the South Central Region rankings, sitting in front of No. 22 St. Mary's (Texas) and No. 25 Cameron
TOYOS REACHES 100 CAREER WINS
- Senior
Ramon Toyos became the 11th Mustang in program history to reach 100 career dual wins on March 3 following a 6-2, 6-0 win over Northwest Missouri State's No. 38 Roman Boissinot
- The Torrelavega, Spain native carries a 56-23 career singles record and 53-29 doubles mark for a combined dual record of 109-52 (.677) for eighth on the all-time wins list
- Toyos followed former teammates Kacper Boborykin (2015) and
Kyle Davidson (2016) to reach 100 wins with the Mustangs placing a player in the 100-win club for the third-straight season
- Jason Peters set the school record for career dual wins with 144 victories from 1998 to 2001
- Peters is followed by Michael Mills (137), Brett Emerson (133), Zac Dillard (131), Ryan Gillen (127),
Kyle Davidson (124), Brian Holcomb (117), Toyos, Victor Vidal (108), Kacper Boborykin (102) and Charles van Swelm (101)
A LOOK AT THE MUSTANGS
- Midwestern State comes into the weekend with a 7-5 record, having played eight top-25 teams so far this season with a 4-4 mark against the top competition

Ramon Toyos remained in the top 10 in the national singles rankings this week at No. 9 while continuing to lead the South Central Region
- Toyos is 7-4 at No. 1 singles with six wins over regionally-ranked foes and a pair of nationally-ranked wins on his resume

Dylan Hall are ranked 14th and 18th, respectively, in the regional rankings with Palacios sitting at 6-6 this season at No. 2 while Hall sports a 7-4 record playing at No. 4

SCOUTING THE BISON
- Oklahoma Baptist moved in the national rankings this week at No. 46 following an 11-4 start to the season
- The Bison have won 10 of their last 11 matches going back to Feb. 25 with all four losses coming to top-40 programs
- OBU is led by Kevin Andrusch, ranked 18th in the Central Region, with an 11-2 record playing No. 1 singles
- Lucas Castelo Branco also cracks the regional rankings at No. 20 with a 10-5 mark at No. 2
- The pair of Castelo Branco and Gianluca Galdi are sixth in the region with a 9-5 mark at No. 2 doubles
- The duo of Thomas Ackerknecht and Luis Romero have combined for a 12-2 record at No. 1
INSIDE THE SERIES
- Midwestern State and Oklahoma Baptist come into Saturday's matchup with the series tied at 2-2
- The Mustangs earned an 8-1 victory over OBU in the last meeting in Shawnee on Mar. 5, 2003
- The two teams squared off three times in the 1980's with the Mustangs collecting a 5-4 win on Apr. 14, 1982 in Wichita Falls

- Alejandro Gonzalez also ranks in the region at No. 8 with a 4-4 mark playing on court two
- In doubles, Dos Santos and Gonzalez are 8-2 on the season at No. 1 and come in on a five-match win streak to rank sixth in the region

- Midwestern State and Newman will face off for the first time in seven years Saturday with the Mustangs leading 3-0 in the all-time series
