WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State squares off against its second South Central Region opponent of the season Tuesday as the 21st-ranked Mustangs play host to Metro State (Colo.) at the MSU Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
- Midwestern State posted a 2-2 record in its annual spring break trip last week with matches against three top-20 NCAA Division II teams in Georgia and Florida
- The Mustangs earned an 8-1 win over No. 19 Georgia College while taking down the NJCAA's No. 9 team in Abraham Baldwin (Ga.), 7-2
- No. 14 Valdosta State (Ga.) handed MSU its first loss of the week with a 6-3 win at home as the Lady Blazers pulled out a pair of three-set wins to avoid the upset
- The Mustangs also fell just short to No. 7 West Florida, 6-3, with four matches going to three sets in singles play

- Midwestern State is off to a 7-3 start to the 2017 campaign while sitting with a 1-0 record in Lone Star Conference play
- The Mustangs climbed to second in the South Central Region rankings last week, surpassing conference rival Cameron to sit behind No. 9 St. Mary's (Texas)

- Panferova has posted a 5-5 mark playing at the No. 1 position for the Mustangs
- Duff sits at 6-4 on the season playing primarily at No. 3, twice earning LSC Player of the Week honors
- Kontaki has won seven-straight matches to push her season record to a team-best 8-2 playing at No. 2 and 3 singles for MSU

Maddy Coffman sports a 7-3 record playing at No. 4 and 5 this season to carry the team at the bottom of the lineup while
Greta Lazzarotto has also been strong with a 6-3 mark having played Nos. 4-6 this year
- In doubles, the duo of Duff and Coffman have been impressive on court two with unblemished record of 10-0
- At No. 3, Lazzarotto and
Ashley Ramirez have teamed up to post an 8-2 record
- Panferova and
Amy Clifton round out the MSU doubles teams with a 5-4 mark playing at the top position with two wins over regionally-ranked tandems
SCOUTING THE ROADRUNNERS
- Metro State comes in winners of its last three matches for an 8-4 record and 3-0 mark in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference
- The Roadrunners jumped one spot to No. 9 in the latest South Central Region rankings released last week
- Tabitha Porter leads Metro State with a 9-2 dual record playing at the No. 1 and 2 positions while Emily Kerr has compiled an 8-4 record at No. 3
- Ainsley Winterrowd and Mackenzie Hotan have each recorded six wins playing at courts four and five, respectively
- Valerie Valencia is the lone Roadrunner to earn a regional ranking, coming in at No. 15 in singles with a 4-2 record at Nos. 1 and 2
- Kerr and Courtney Wright lead the team with a 7-4 dual record at No. 1 doubles while Porter and Linying Xiao are 5-2 on court two
INSIDE THE SERIES
- Midwestern State and Metro State will meet for the eighth time Tuesday with the Mustangs leading the all-time series, 6-1
- MSU has claimed the last two meetings in 2014 and 2016 with the Roadrunners earning their lone series win in 2010 in Denver
