SOUTHLAKE, Texas - The 21st-ranked Midwestern State women's tennis team dropped their first match of the season Saturday morning with a 7-2 loss to No. 9 St. Mary's at the Southlake Tennis Center.
 
The Rattlers clinched the match at No. 6 singles with Sindhi Ravula recording a 6-3, 6-4 win over freshman Ashley Ramirez.
 
The Mustangs (2-1) started the match claiming two out of three doubles points. Sophomore Maddy Coffman and freshman Bianca Duff recorded the first point of the match with an 8-4 win over Camille Clausse-Pujo and Mariela Sarinana. Ramirez and sophomore Greta Lazzarotto followed with a 8-3 win over Ravula and Ally Maciel in the No. 3 spot.
 
Kaylin Kruseman and Tyra Timm avoided the doubles sweep with an 8-4 win over juniors Amy Clifton and Daria Panferova at the No. 1 position.
 
St. Mary's (6-0) swept singles play with the Rattlers taking straight-set wins in four of the six positions. At the three position, No. 6 Maciel outlasted Duff, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3, while Sarinana took a 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (5) decision at No. 5 against Coffman.
 
The Mustangs return to the court Friday to take on Northwest Missouri State at the John A. Bryant Tennis Center in Bolivar, Mo. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
