WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State earned a split with Oklahoma Christian in a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday evening at Mustangs Park with the Eagles taking game one with a 3-0 shutout before the Mustangs responded with a come-from-behind 3-2 victory in game two.
GAME 1 RECAP
Madison Hagood threw a two-hit shutout, carrying a no-hitter until the fifth inning, to carry Oklahoma Christian to a victory in game one of Tuesday's doubleheader.
Both teams were hitless until the fourth inning when Oklahoma Christian (8-5) recorded a pair of two-out infield singles.
Carli Woolsey broke up Hagood's no-hitter in the fifth with a single up the middle before
Taylor Mordecai also reached with a single to right center. Midwestern State (8-8), however, was unable to cause any more damage leaving the game scoreless after five.
A one-out RBI single for Kaylie Upton gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the top of the seventh after recording OC's third-straight single in the frame. A double to left center for Sheridan Bond scored two more for the Eagles with two outs to stretch their lead to 3-0.
OC posted a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom half of the seventh to take game one.

Lauren Lindgren delivered a go-ahead two-run home run in the sixth inning while
Peyton Helton allowed no earned runs in the circle in a 3-2 win for Midwestern State in the nightcap.
Oklahoma Christian (8-6) went in front in the top of the third with a throwing error by the Mustangs scoring Bond who had reached base with a one-out double for a 1-0 advantage. A fielder's choice and back-to-back errors in the Midwestern State (9-8) infield extended the OC lead to 2-0 in the top of the sixth with one out.
Madison Nordyke did not allow a base runner until the sixth when
Hannah Springs blasted her first career homer to deny Nordyke the chance for a no-hitter and make the score 2-1.
Taylor Brintzenhoff earned a walk in the next at bat before Lindgren tallied her fourth long ball of the season to propel the Maroon and Gold to a 3-2 lead.
The Mustangs defense held up in the seventh with a quick inning to record the comeback victory.

Midwestern State hits the road for the first time in three weeks this weekend with a three-game Lone Star Conference series at Texas A&M-Kingsville. The teams square off in the series opener Friday at 5 p.m. at Hubert Field in Kingsville before a Saturday doubleheader beginning at noon.
