WICHITA FALLS – No. 23 Angelo State used a precision attack to take out Midwestern State in a sweep in Lone Star Conference play Saturday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
It was the third straight loss for MSU which was eliminated from LSC postseason contention while falling to 13-15 on the season and 6-12 in league play.
The Mustangs lagged three games behind the trio of Texas Woman's, Eastern New Mexico and Western New Mexico who are tied for sixth with a 9-9 mark in LSC play. Midwestern has just two conference matches remaining.
The Rambelles, who improved to 19-8 and 11-7, hit .358 as a team paced by redshirt-freshman Bailey Drum's 13-kill, 11-dig performance. ASU senior All-American Brianna Sotello added 10 kills, but was the only 'Belle among five with 10-or-more attacks to hit less than .231.
Midwestern battled in the opening set combining for 13 kills and hitting .235 as a team. Senior
Meghan Bettis spurred the early effort slamming home six kills on her nine attacks without error, but the Mustangs were unable to take the first set.
Bettis would finish with eight kills for the match and hit .368 overall, middle blockers
Addison Semer (.231) and
Raven Presley (.500) had six kills each.
Angelo State remained steady throughout hitting .379, .361 and .333 as a team for the 25-22, 25-15, 25-12 win.

- Angelo State swept the Mustangs for the eighth straight time while claiming its 19th consecutive win in the series.

Meghan Bettis more past Hillary White (881/2008-11) into 13th on the program's all-time kills list. She is 12 kills from Sheila Farrar (12th/898/1987-88), 22 away from Geneva Hammond (11th/908/1987-90) and 45 away from Caitlin Wallace (10th/931/2010-13).
- Freshman
Raven Presley posted her ninth match with at least five total blocks finishing with five against Angelo State. It was also her second match this season with no attack errors as she finished with six kills in 12 attempts for .500 hitting percentage.
- Angelo State's team hitting percentage of .358 was the second highest against the Mustangs this season.

Midwestern State takes on Dallas Baptist in its final road match of the season Tuesday at Burg Center in Dallas. First serve at 6:30 p.m. The Mustangs then close the season with matches against Cameron (Thursday/6 p.m.) and Texas A&M-Kingsville (Friday/6 p.m.)
