THE RUNDOWN
WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State saw its win streak come to an end Thursday night as the third-ranked Mustangs played Lubbock Christian to a 1-1 draw in a heated battle at Stang Park.
Midwestern State (10-0-1, 6-0-1 HC) looked to be on its way to an 11th-straight victory until Lubbock Christian's (4-6-1, 3-3-1 HC) Corey Hutchison struck for his first goal of the season with two minutes remaining in regulation with a rocket that sailed over senior goalkeeper
Richard Goss from just outside the box for a 1-1 contest.
A red card issued to LCU's Mohammed Busaidy with 42 seconds to play forced the Chaps to play a man down for the final 20 minutes as the Mustangs outshot LCU 6-0 in the extra periods but were unable to record the golden goal.
Senior midfielder
Pierre Bocquet broke a scoreless match in the 70th minute with a strike from the left post off a corner kick from freshman midfielder
Carlos Flores for his fifth score of the season.
The Chaps offense was limited the entire match as the Mustangs controlled a majority of the possession. The MSU defense held LCU to just two shots on goal in five attempts while the Mustangs fired off a season-high 27 shots with eight on frame.
