PORTALES, N.M. – Midwestern State's
Raven Presley and
Addison Semer threw a block party leading the Mustangs to a .231 hitting percentage and a 3-1 win (25-17, 25-19, 23-25, 25-23) over Eastern New Mexico Saturday night at Greyhound Arena.
MSU improved to 13-12 on the season and moved into a tie for eighth in the Lone Star Conference race with Texas Woman's University at 6-9.
The Mustangs and Pioneers square off Tuesday night at Kitty Magee Arena in Denton. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
Presley, a freshman from Richardson, put down 14 kills and hit .355 while posting a team-high eight total blocks. Overall, the Mustangs turned back 12 team blocks.
Semer, a senior from Bastrop, was even better on the attack notching 15 kills with a single error in 26 attempts to hit .538. She added three total blocks.
Senior
Meghan Bettis gave the Mustangs a third player with double-figure kills finishing with 14 while notching three total blocks of her own.
Sophomore
Sarah Eakin was also in on five blocks, while senior setter
Kristan Aduddell had 49 set assists to go along with seven digs.
Senior
Aerielle Edwards led back row efforts with 24 digs.
Sarah Tuioti-Mariner posted 16 kills to lead Eastern New Mexico which fell to 10-15 and 7-8.
NOTES
- Midwestern State recorded double-figure blocks for the second-straight match finishing with 12 after going for 10 Friday at Western New Mexico. The Mustangs have posted 10-or-more blocks in seven matches this season.
- The Mustangs accounted for 11 service aces for the 12th time this season.
Leah Lychock led the way with four, while
Aerielle Edwards tacked on three.

Addison Semer closed out a brilliant attacking weekend with 15 kills and one error. She hit .490 with 26 kills and two errors in 49 swings during the New Mexico road swing.

Raven Presley accounted for 13 total blocks in eight sets this weekend to go along with her fifth and sixth match with 10-or-more kills.

Meghan Bettis, who posted 14 kills against Eastern New Mexico, has double-figure kills in four of her last five matches.
