- Carrying a 16-match unbeaten streak into the final week of the regular season, third-ranked Midwestern State looks to record the program's fourth undefeated regular season with a pair of road matchups against Newman (Kan.) and Oklahoma Christian this weekend
- A win over Newman Thursday would seal a second-straight Heartland Conference regular season title for the Mustangs, coming in with a 14-0-2 overall record and 10-0-2 mark to sit atop the league standings by four points
- The Heartland champion will serve as host for the conference tournament's semifinal and championship rounds, Nov. 3-5, with the winner receiving an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament
- Midwestern State has posted undefeated regular seasons in 2002 (13-0-4), 2010 (16-0-2) and 2015 (16-0-1), all coming under current head coach Doug Elder

- The Mustangs climbed back up to a No. 3 ranking in the United Soccer Coaches poll this week for their third top three ranking in the last four weeks
- MSU has sported one of the toughest defenses in the country this season with 10 shutouts to rank third nationally in save percentage (.879), fifth in goals against average (.423) and sixth in shutout percentage (.625)
- Senior keeper Richard Goss has made 10 starts in goal for the Mustangs on the year, ranking seventh in the country in goals against average (.557) and 22nd in save percentage (.818) with five clean sheets to his stat line
- On the offensive end, senior forward Scott Doney has tallied a team-high 24 points (11 goals, 2 assists) to rank third in the conference in scoring
- Doney comes in sixth nationally with six game-winning goals while appearing 21st in goals scored and 34th in points
- The Mustangs sport three other players in double figures on the season in senior midfielder Pierre Bocquet (16 pts.), freshman midfielder Carlos Flores (11 pts.) and sophomore midfielder Sebastian Venegas (10 pts.)
- Venegas leads the Mustangs and is tied for first in the Heartland with six assists
- Newman will wrap up its 2017 season this weekend, sitting with a 4-8-4 overall record and 2-7-3 slate in the Heartland
- Senior defender Jamie Barkway leads the Jets with 13 points and six goals while freshman goalkeeper Chase Bowman has posted six shutouts with 0.99 goals against average
- Oklahoma Christian also concludes its season this weekend, currently carrying a 3-10-2 record with a 1-9-2 mark in the league
- Sophomore defender Garrett Blume leads the OC offense with nine points and four goals on the season
- Junior goalkeeper Gianluca Marchetti holds a 1.85 goals against average in 13 appearances in goal for the Eagles
