WICHITA FALLS, Texas –
Meghan Bettis led Midwestern State for the third-straight match with 13 kills and
Kristan Aduddell registered a double-double with 32 assists and 11 digs to pace the Mustangs to their third-straight win with a 3-0 sweep of UT Permian Basin Saturday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
Midwestern State (12-11, 5-8 LSC) used a balanced offensive attack in the opening set with five players posting kills for a 25-18 victory. The Mustangs began to pull away midway through the first game behind a 4-0 run with
Addison Semer totaling three aces in the spurt. The Falcons clawed back within a point after an ace, but MSU put together another 4-0 run to carry the momentum down the stretch.
Rockelle Gholson (6 kills) and
Meghan Bettis (4 kills) combined for 10 of MSU's 15 kills in the second set as the Mustangs hit .263 to earn a 25-20 victory. Midwestern claimed an early 7-3 advantage to force a UT Permian Basin (4-19, 1-13 LSC) timeout following a Gholson kill. The Falcons were only able to pull back within three the remainder of the set as the Mustangs built as much as a seven-point lead in the frame.
UTPB committed nine hitting errors compared to just seven kills in the third set as the Mustangs coasted to a 25-17 win behind Bettis' seven kills. A 5-0 run early in the frame set the stage for MSU, claiming a 12-6 lead on the Falcons. UTPB came within two points at 15-13, but the Mustangs answered with a 10-4 run to close out the game with Bettis and Gholson each posting three kills to earn the sweep.
