WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The 20th-ranked Midwestern State women's tennis team will face a stiff test Saturday as the Mustangs take on a pair of top-50 programs in No. 12 St. Mary's and No. 47 Dallas Baptist at the Arlington Tennis Center.
The Mustangs first face off against STMU in an 8 a.m. meeting before concluding the day against host DBU at 2 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
– Midwestern State earned its 10th win of the season at home Wednesday with its sixth sweep of the season in a 9-0 victory over NAIA Texas Wesleyan at the MSU Tennis Center
MUSTANGS JUMP TO NO. 20 IN NATIONAL RANKINGS
– Midwestern State climbed two spots to No. 20 in the Oracle/ITA Women's Division II national rankings released Mar. 23 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association
– The Mustangs also stayed at No. 3 in the latest South Central Region rankings released on Mar. 16, coming in behind No. 12 St. Mary's and No. 17 Cameron
A LOOK AT THE MUSTANGS
– Midwestern State enters the week with a 10-4 record on the season and 8-2 mark against NCAA Division II opponents

Maddie Schorlemmer climbed to No. 27 in the national singles rankings last week, currently sporting an 8-5 dual play record with a 7-4 mark at No. 1 this season

Eirini Kontaki also appeared in the national rankings, moving in at No. 23 in doubles and third in the region with an 8-4 record on the year

Lauren Pineda leads the Mustangs with a 10-2 record in singles while teaming up with sophomore
Amy Clifton for a 13-1 mark to rank sixth in the region as MSU's No. 2 doubles team

Greta Lazzarotto, ranked 14th in the South Central Region, is 9-5 on the season in singles, primarily on courts two and three
– Schorlemmer and Lazzarotto round out the doubles lineup for the Mustangs, carrying a 12-2 record mostly at No. 3
– Kontaki is ranked 17th in the region with an 8-4 record on courts two and three this season
– Pineda has moved her way up to the No. 4 line, posting a 6-2 record at that position

Abby White is 4-0 at No. 5 and 4-1 at No. 6 on the season while Nochowicz has suffered just one loss in singles play at 7-1 appearing at Nos. 4 and 5

SCOUTING THE RATTLERS
– Ranked 12th in the Oracle/ITA Division II rankings, St. Mary's is 9-3 on the season with losses to top-10 Saint Leo (Fla.) and Hawaii Pacific and Division I UTSA
– The Rattlers will take on Dallas Baptist Friday afternoon before facing off against Midwestern State
– St. Mary's sports a pair of nationally-ranked singles players and two top-20 doubles teams
– Cristina Lopez is 8-4 in dual play, appearing at Nos. 1 and 2, to come in at No. 35 in the national singles rankings

– Pineda comes in behind Lacey Wuthrich (138), Emilee Black (135), Brooke Gray (131), Sara Butler (129) and Marsha Meyer (111) and sits in front of former teammate

LINN EARNS WIN NO. 400
– Head coach
Scott Linn received a memorable win No. 400 last May when the MSU women's tennis team upset No. 12 California (Pa.) in the NCAA Sweet 16
– Linn enters his sixth season leading the MSU men's and women's tennis programs, guiding the Mustangs to a combined seven postseason appearances since taking over the programs in 2010-11
– Linn has posted an 85-40 record (.680) with the men's team while recording an 92-43 mark (.681) with the women for a combined 177-83 (.681)
– Since 1997-98, Linn has compiled a 416-262 (.614) career record in 15 seasons as a men's head coach (227-150, .602) and 12 seasons as a women's coach (189-112, .628), averaging close to 15 wins a season
– Prior to MSU, Linn served head coaching stints at Science & Arts. (Okla.), Embry-Riddle (Fla.) and Florida Southern while serving as a men's assistant coach at his alma mater, East Central (Okla.), and Indiana
