EDMOND, Okla. – Midwestern State cruised to a sweep in Oklahoma Saturday with an 8-1 win over Southern Nazarene capping off a pair of victories for the Mustangs at the University Central Oklahoma.

The Mustangs defeated host UCO earlier in the day, 7-2, to snap the Bronchos' eight-match win streak. With the win over Southern Nazarene, the 22nd-ranked Mustangs improved to 3-1 on the season while the Crimson Storm dropped to 1-4 overall.

The Mustangs dominated doubles play, earning a pair of 8-0 wins on courts two and three to set the stage in the early going. Amy Clifton and Lauren Pineda moved to 4-0 on the season as the duo earned one of the two 8-0 victories at No. 2 while Maddie Schorlemmer and Greta Lazzarotto claimed the other 8-0 victory. Eirini Kontaki and Lindsay Nochowicz also remained undefeated at 2-0, pulling out an 8-6 win over the Central Region's eighth-ranked pair in Polina Chala and Noelia Gomez at No. 1.

Midwestern State coasted in singles, earning five straight-set wins in dominant fashion to move ahead 8-0. No. 37 Maddie Schorlemmer took her second win at No. 1 on the day with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Gomez to cap off the five-straight wins for the Mustangs.

Chala, ranked eighth in the region, earned the Crimson Storm's lone point of the afternoon with a super tiebreaker win over Lazzarotto on court two, 3-6, 6-4, 10-7.

Midwestern State continues its road swing Friday as the Mustangs travel to Odessa for a pair of matches. MSU will face New Mexico Military Institute at 9 a.m. before taking on host Texas-Permian Basin at 2 p.m.
