DENVER – No. 22 Midwestern State women's tennis was unable to stretch its win streak to seven matches Sunday afternoon as the Mustangs fell 7-2 to No. 3 Saint Leo (Fla.) in a neutral site meeting at the Regency Athletic Complex.
Saint Leo (11-1) swept through doubles play before taking wins on the top four courts with 10th-ranked Marine Beugre-Guyot earning a straight-set win over
Eirini Kontaki on court three to clinch the match for the Lions.
Midwestern State (7-2) earned its two wins at No. 5 and 6 singles with senior
Lindsay Nochowicz and junior
Abby White totaling points for the Mustangs.
Nochowicz remained undefeated on the season in singles play at 5-0 with a dominant 6-1, 6-2 win on court five to put the Mustangs on the board. White followed with her fifth-straight win to improve to 6-1 on the year with a super tiebreaker victory, 6-2, 3-6, 10-5,
at the No. 6 position to cap off the match.
Midwestern State is back in action Monday when the Mustangs take on No. 9 Hawaii Pacific at 10 a.m. at the Regency Athletic Complex.
