Mustangs fall to Division I Dartmouth in Dallas

DALLAS – The 12th-ranked Midwestern State men's tennis team's four-match winning streak came to a halt Thursday as the Mustangs dropped a 7-0 decision to NCAA Division I Dartmouth at the SMU Tennis Complex.

Dartmouth, ranked 35th in the Division I team rankings, claimed two of three doubles matches before collecting five straight-set singles wins en route to a sweep over the Mustangs.

Junior Chris Norrie and freshman Radu Popa recorded the lone win for Midwestern State (6-2) on the day with a 6-3 victory over Max Fliegner and Max Schmidt at No. 3 doubles. However, Dartmouth (11-4) earned a 6-3 win on court one and a 6-1 victory at No. 2 to take the doubles point and a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.

Norrie forced a deciding third set at No. 5 singles after the Big Green took a 6-0 lead with straight-set wins across the board. Norrie pulled out a 7-6 (2) win in the second set before coming up just short with a 6-4 loss in the third to Roko Glasnovic.

Midwestern State next hosts No. 28 Western New Mexico in an 11 a.m. Friday matchup at the MSU Tennis Center.
