WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Head coach
Scott Linn and the Midwestern State women's tennis program announced the signing of Mexico City, Mexico native Constanza Canseco to a National Letter of Intent Friday as the second signee in the program's 2017 signing class.
For the last four years, Canseco has trained under coach Beau Jones at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. The 5-4 right-hander ranked No. 2 in Mexico City for ages 21 and under and was a two-time national doubles champion while also claiming a regional doubles title and finishing runner-up in singles.
In February, Canseco advanced to the third round of the qualifying draw at the Jalisco Junior Cup in Guadalajara, Mexico. She also partnered with Australian Luciana Kunkel to advance to the doubles quarterfinals at the Copa Palmas del Caribe in Humacao, Puerto Rico.
Canseco is the daughter of Pedro Canseco and Barbara Albuerne. She joins Wichita Falls native
Maddie Rowe to comprise the 2017 MSU signing class.
Midwestern State is coming off its fourth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance in 2016 with a showing in the South Central Region #2 Championship in May. The Mustangs began their dual season Jan. 19 with an exhibition at UT Arlington at the UTA Tennis Center in Arlington.
