WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State hit .279 with three double-figure kill performers on its way to a 3-0 sweep of rival Cameron in the home finale Tuesday evening at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
Midwestern State hit a match-best .400 in the opening set to record a 25-17 win. A kill by
Addison Semer sparked a late 8-2 run with a pair of
Aerielle Edwards kills and two MSU blocks propelling the Mustangs to a 1-0 lead in the match.
The Mustangs used a balanced offensive attack in the second set with four players recording at least three kills in the frame to come away with a 25-16 victory.
Meghan Bettis and
Sarah Garfield each put down two kills to help MSU jump out to a 9-3 advantage in the second set. The Mustangs held a comfortable lead for the remainder of the game, stretching their lead to as many as 10 before going on to take a 2-0 lead.
Kiley Beaver hit .500 with six kills in the third set to lead Midwestern to a sweep with a dominant 25-12 win. A 10-1 run midway through the frame pushed the Mustangs to a 19-9 lead as Beaver and Garfield each recorded three kills in the spurt. The Mustangs finished strong down the stretch behind the serve of
Erin Richburg with Beaver adding a pair of kills before an ace for Richburg capped off the match.
