WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State looks to capture the program's fifth Lone Star Conference title this weekend as the Mustangs begin their postseason run in the LSC Tournament Thursday in Commerce.
LSC TOURNAMENT
No. 3 seed Midwestern State opens up tournament play tomorrow at 5 p.m. against sixth-seeded Eastern New Mexico at Lion Soccer Field. The winner will move on to face No. 2 West Texas A&M in the LSC semifinals Friday at 5 p.m. On the other side of the bracket, top-seeded Texas A&M-Commerce awaits the winner between No. 4 Angelo State and No. 5 Texas Woman's for its semifinal matchup on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The LSC Championship is scheduled for a 1 p.m. kickoff Sunday with the winner receiving an automatic bid into the 48-team NCAA Tournament field.
A LOOK AT THE MUSTANGS
- Midwestern State enters postseason play on a four-game win streak, defeating regionally-ranked foes Angelo State and West Texas A&M in that span to move to 11-5-2 overall and end the regular season conference slate with an 8-4-0 mark
- The Mustangs have been led offensively by senior forward
Nicole Coetzer, junior forward
Destinee Williamson and freshman forward
Hanna Mattinson
- Coetzer leads MSU with seven goals on the season while adding one assist for 15 points
- Williamson has also added 15 points for the Maroon and Gold with six goals and three assists while carrying a team-high four game winners
- Mattinson has struck for five goals and four assists for 14 points with three game-winning goals in her first campaign

Courtney Burnette has appeared in goal for the Mustangs in all 1,665 minutes this season, carrying a 0.76 goals against average and .841 save percentage with eight shutouts on the year
- Burnette and the Mustangs defense ranks 48th nationally in goals against average and 60th in shutout percentage
- Burnette enters the LSC Tournament just one shutout shy of tying the program's career shutout record of 22 set by Mallory Whitworth in 2012, and the single-season record of nine set by Kallie Essary in 2013
SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
- Eastern New Mexico ended the regular season with a 3-13-1 record and 2-10-0 mark in the LSC to claim the final tournament spot
- Freshman forward Anniah Galdean and sophomore forward Mirka Zamarripa have each totaled four goals to lead the Greyhounds offense with Galdean recording a team-high three assists
- In goal, junior Marissa Torres sports a 1.73 goals against average and .780 save percentage in 17 starts this season
INSIDE THE SERIES
- Midwestern State holds a 14-4-2 record against Eastern New Mexico in the all-time series
