Seniors lead Mustangs to 10th-straight win on Senior Day

THE RUNDOWN

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Senior midfielder Kyle Baccus recorded the first multiple-goal performance of his career to lead 11th-ranked Midwestern State to its 10th-straight victory Saturday afternoon with a 4-1 win over Oklahoma Christian on Senior Day at MSU Soccer Field.
 
Baccus gave Midwestern State (15-2-1, 13-1-0) the momentum early, netting the first two goals for the Mustangs with strikes from inside the box to give MSU a 2-0 advantage in the 22nd minute after netting the first goal less than 14 minutes into the contest.
 
In the 40th minute, senior midfielder Flavio Guzman extended the Mustangs lead to 3-0 with his fifth goal of the season. Just five minutes later, freshman forward Jacob Hernandez gave MSU a 4-0 advantage at the break with a strike with 42 seconds left in the first period.
 
Oklahoma Christian (4-13-1, 2-11-1) denied the Mustangs their seventh-straight shutout with Ante Susic finding the back of the net just four minutes into the second half with a shot from 25 yards out on the right wing for a 4-1 score.

UP NEXT 
Midwestern State will host the Heartland Conference Tournament Friday, Nov. 4 and Sunday, Nov. 6 with the semifinal and championship games taking place at MSU Soccer Field. The top-seeded Mustangs will play host to the winner of the No. 4-5 matchup between Newman and Rogers State Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the semifinals.
