WICHITA FALLS, Texas – After a home-opening win over Southwestern Oklahoma State to begin Wednesday's action, the Midwestern State volleyball team followed by hitting a season-best .288 to record a 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-17) sweep over Texas Wesleyan in the nightcap at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
While hitting a season high, the Mustangs held the Lady Rams (8-4) to a .150 hitting percentage and finished with 9-3 advantage in service aces.
Sophomore outside hitter
Meghan Bettis led the Mustangs (3-3) with 13 kills, hitting .375 for the match with just one error on a team-high 32 attempts. Senior outside hitter
Hunter Porter added 12 kills for MSU, finishing with a team-best .450 attack percentage.
In the first set, a kill by Porter opened up a 12-8 advantage for Midwestern before the Lady Rams trimmed the Mustangs lead down to one. A kill by sophomore middle blocker
Angel Summers brought the momentum back to the home team late in the set, putting the score at 19-14. TWU would get back within two before kills by Bettis and freshman middle blocker
Kiley Beaver gave the Mustangs a 25-19 first set victory.
It was a tight contest in the second set before three kills by Beaver helped Midwestern mount a 7-1 run to take a 14-8 advantage. After a kill by TWU's Bre Blackburn to make it 16-15 MSU, three-straight points for MSU helped the Mustangs stretch their lead back out and go on to take a 25-20 second set win and 2-0 lead in the match.

MSU continued to cruise, opening up a 15-6 lead before TWU halted a 5-0 run by the Mustangs with three-straight points.
The Rams pulled back within five after a Blackburn ace but their deficit was too much to overcome as the Mustangs came away with a 25-17 third set win to record the sweep.

Hayden Blair recorded her third double-double of the season with 20 assists and 12 digs. Freshman libero
Matti Dix led the Mustangs with 18 digs while Johnson totaled 11 along with six service aces.
Midwestern travels to Russellville, Arkansas, this weekend for the Arkansas Tech Tournament. The Mustangs will face the host institution and Missouri Southern on Friday before wrapping up the weekend Saturday with contests against Newman (Kan.) and Ouachita Baptist (Ark.).
