The Mustangs first take the court against host LCU at 2 p.m. before facing UTPB at 4 p.m.
The Mustangs dropped to 0-2 in conference Tuesday in Lawton, Oklahoma, after a 3-1 defeat to an undefeated Cameron squad. Sophomore outside hitter Meghan Bettis led Midwestern with 10 kills while matching a career-best 16 digs.
SCOUTING THE LADY CHAPS– Lubbock Christian enters the weekend carrying a 5-6 record and 2-2 mark in the Heartland Conference
– LCU has dropped five of its last six matches
– The Lady Chaps are third nationally with 851 total digs and rank 18th with 18.5 digs per set, led by freshman libero Kelsie French, who is the national leader with 298 digs and is fifth with 6.48 digs per set
– LCU comes in at 13th in the country with 533 total assists, paced by sophomore setter Mallory Powell, who is fifth nationally with 470 assists and 46th with 10.22 assists per set
– Senior outside hitter Maddie Johnson leads the Lady Chaps offense with 118 kills (3.03/set)
– Head coach Jennifer Lawrence is in her 12th season at the helm of the LCU volleyball program with a career record of 273-114

– Rawson spent three seasons as an assistant coach at MSU from 2010-12
MUSTANGS SPORT YOUTHFUL ROSTER IN 2015– Rawson returns to a young roster in her first season back at Midwestern
– The Mustangs' roster features nine newcomers with eight true freshmen and one junior college transfer on the 18-member roster
– Midwestern's roster includes one lone senior and just five upperclassmen
– With a couple of injuries to the Mustangs upperclassmen, the newcomers have seen a considerable amount of court time this season
– The Mustangs have started at least three freshmen in all but three matches this season with four getting the nod against Cameron (Sept. 22)
ACE YOUR FACE– Junior defensive specialist Madelyn Johnson has helped bring some momentum to the Mustangs with her play at the service line this season
– Through 44 sets, the Alvin native is first in the LSC and tied for 14th nationally with 21 aces on the season
DISHING IT OUT– True freshman setter Hayden Blair has had to adjust to the college game pretty quickly, taking over the reins as MSU's primary setter this season
– The McKinney product has posted a season-best 41 assists twice in wins over Pace (N.Y.) and Southwestern Oklahoma State and has totaled a team-best six double-doubles
– Blair is averaging 8.70 assists per set for seventh in the LSC
BETTIS LEADING THE WAY– Sophomore outside hitter Meghan Bettis has already surpassed her kill total (78) from the 2014 season, leading the Mustangs offense with 130 kills at 2.95 per set this season for 11th in the conference
– The Dripping Springs native has led the Mustangs in kills in seven matches with a season-best 18 coming against Ouachita Baptist
LOOKING AHEAD– Midwestern State begins a five-match homestand Tuesday when the Mustangs face West Texas A&M in a LSC matchup at 6 p.m. at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
