Midwestern opens the 2015 season this weekend at the Oredigger Classic in Golden, Colorado, hosted by Colorado Mines. The Mustangs will take on Colorado Christian and Pace (N.Y.) on the first day of action Friday before facing Minnesota State-Moorhead and No. 8 Colorado Mines on Saturday.
Rawson Era Begins
- Former Midwestern assistant coach Natalie Rawson was tabbed the eighth head volleyball coach in program history back on Mar. 24, 2015
- Rawson spent the last two seasons as the head coach at Newman (Kan.), leading the Jets to a 30-26 record and their first Heartland Conference postseason appearance in four years in 2014
- Rawson spent three seasons as an assistant coach at MSU from 2010-12
Scouting the Cougars
- Colorado Christian was picked to finish fourth in the Mountain Division and eighth overall in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC)
- The Cougars posted a school record 27 wins last season with a 27-14 record. CCU went 9-9 in league play to finish sixth
- CCU returns four starters for the upcoming season
- The Cougars are under the direction of first-year head coach Andria Harshman

- The two teams will meet for the third time Friday with the series even at 1-1
- The Mustangs and Cougars last met in 2006 with MSU coming away with a 3-1 victory in Lakewood, Colorado

- Pace recorded a 4-23 mark with a 1-13 Northeast-10 Conference record last season
- The Setters return their entire starting lineup from 2014

- Colorado Mines posted a 25-4 record with a 17-1 mark in the RMAC to win their third-straight conference championship in 2014
- The Orediggers advanced to their sixth-straight NCAA Tournament last season, falling to the No. 7 seed Arkansas-Fort Smith in the first round
- CSM enters the 2015 season at No. 8 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Preseason Poll
- CSM was picked to win the RMAC this season, garnering eight first-place votes and 217 points in the league's preseason poll
