STEPHENVILLE, Texas -- Midwestern State's
Tayler Jerrick spun her third shutout of the season as the Mustangs snapped a three-game skid with a 4-0 win over Tarleton State in Game 2 Saturday night at the TSU Softball Complex.
The sophomore from Anaheim, Calif. notched her third blanking in seven starts this season limiting the TexAnns to five hits with three strikeouts and two walks in the complete game victory. Jerrick improved to 3-2 in the circle.
Midwestern State, which improved to 16-11 on the season while moving to a 3-7 Lone Star Conference play, concludes the four-game league with a twin bill Monday night in Stephenville. First pitches are set for 5 and 7 p.m. at the TSU Softball Complex.
Tarleton's Haley Freyman, who took the loss while allowing two earned runs on five hits in seven frames, did not allow a hit through the opening three innings.

Katy Vandewater broke up the no-hit bid with a single through the left side of the infield to lead off the fourth. Sophomore outfielder
Taylor Bermudes reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to second when junior second baseman
Shelby Carter drew a base on balls.

Katelyn Potts followed with a single through the right side of the infield to plate Bermudes with the first run of the game.
The Mustangs tacked on two unearned runs in the fifth highlighted by Bermudes' two-out RBI single push the lead to 3-0.
Midwestern added another score in the seven as junior
Katelyn Vinson drew a leadoff walk and came around to score on
Katy Vandewater's run-scoring single up the middle.
Vandewater paced the MSU attack by going 2-for-4 to up her batting average to a team-best .363 on the season.
Jerrick worked her way out of a two-on and no-out jam in the sixth inning inducing consecutive popups after Nyka Wood's sacrifice bunt moved two runners in scoring position.
Tarleton State dropped to 14-12 and 1-3.
