FOR STARTERS
Midwestern State begins a three-match homestand Tuesday when the Mustangs host Lubbock Christian in a non-conference matchup at 6 p.m. at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

The Mustangs suffered a couple of setbacks last weekend on the road with a 3-1 loss to Texas A&M-Commerce and a 3-0 defeat to Texas Woman's.

A trio of Mustangs recorded double-digit kills in the loss to A&M-C with senior outside hitter Hunter Porter and freshman middle blocker Olivia Schiffner totaling 11 kills apiece and sophomore outside hitter Meghan Bettis finishing with 10 on the night. Porter also led the Mustangs against the Pioneers, posting 11 kills on a .321 hitting percentage.

SCOUTING THE LADY CHAPS
– Lubbock Christian is 17-9 on the season and sits in third place in the Heartland Conference with a 10-5 mark
– Senior outside hitter Maddie Johnson leads the Lady Chaps with 304 kills (3.07/set) this season
– Freshman outside hitter Emily Hanaway has added 262 kills (2.73/set) for the LCU offense while recording a team-best 24 service aces
– Freshman libero Kelsie French ranks in the top 15 nationally with 609 digs (6.15/set) while sophomore setter Mallory Powell is in the top 25 in the country with 1,046 assists (10.6/set) this season
– Head coach Jennifer Lawrence is in her 12th season with the Lady Chaps, holding a career record of 285-117

INSIDE THE SERIES
– Lubbock Christian holds a slight 15-13 advantage in the all-time series against Midwestern State
– The Mustangs are 7-4 against the Lady Chaps inside Ligon Coliseum
– LCU earned a 3-0 win over the Mustangs back on Sept. 26 in Lubbock
– MSU last picked up a win over the Lady Chaps on Sept. 14, 2013 with a 3-1 victory in Lubbock

RAWSON ERA BEGINS
– Former Midwestern State assistant coach Natalie Rawson was tabbed the eighth head volleyball coach in program history back on Mar. 24, 2015
– Rawson spent the last two seasons as the head coach at Newman (Kan.), leading the Jets to a 30-26 record and their first Heartland Conference postseason appearance in four years in 2014
– Rawson spent three seasons as an assistant coach at MSU from 2010-12

MUSTANGS SPORT YOUTHFUL ROSTER IN 2015
– Rawson returns to a young roster in her first season back at Midwestern State
– The Mustangs' roster features nine newcomers with eight true freshmen and one junior college transfer on the 16-player roster
– Midwestern's roster includes one lone senior and just four upperclassmen
– With a couple of injuries to the Mustangs upperclassmen, the newcomers have seen a considerable amount of court time this season
– The Mustangs have started at least three freshmen in all but three matches this season with five appearing in the starting lineup against Lubbock Christian (Sept. 26), Texas A&M-Commerce (Oct. 3), Dallas Baptist (Oct. 3), Angelo State (Oct. 9) and Tarleton State (Oct. 10)

BETTIS, PORTER PACING MUSTANGS
– Sophomore outside hitter Meghan Bettis and senior outside hitter Hunter Porter have led the Mustangs offense this season with Bettis registering a team-high 246 kills (2.59/set) while Porter is close behind with 243 (2.38/set)
– In her first season playing for the Mustangs in 2014, Porter tallied a team-best 2.48 kills per set for 223 on the year
– Bettis' numbers have increased drastically during her sophomore campaign after totaling 78 kills as a freshman

ACE YOUR FACE
– Junior libero Madelyn Johnson has helped spark the Mustangs offense with her play at the service line this season
– Johnson ranks 63rd nationally and third in the Lone Star Conference with 38 aces
– Johnson needs just nine more aces to climb into the single-season top 10 list in the MSU record books where she could become the first Mustang to accomplish the feat since Shay Velasquez set a single-season school record of 71 back in 2007

DISHING IT OUT
– Midwestern State has relied on true freshmen setters Hayden Blair and Kendall Chamberlain to set up the MSU attack this season
– Blair has posted a season-best 41 assists three times with a team-high 12 double-doubles in 25 starts this season
– Chamberlain has recently taken the reins of the MSU offense, recording a season-high 35 assists and 12 digs at Texas A&M-Commerce (Nov. 6) while posting 22 assists and 11 digs in her first career start against Cameron (Oct. 30)

LOOKING AHEAD
– Midwestern State wraps up the 2015 season this weekend against Lone Star Conference leaders Tarleton State and Angelo State with a 3 p.m. match Friday against the TexAnns and a 2 p.m. Saturday contest versus the Rambelles
