Midwestern State makes its final road trip of the season this weekend to take on Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas Woman's in Lone Star Conference action.
The Mustangs first take the court against A&M-C on Friday at 6 p.m. before facing TWU in a 2 p.m. matchup Saturday in Denton.
Midwestern State went 1-1 last weekend, falling 3-0 to Cameron at home before registering a 3-0 sweep over Southern Nazarene (Okla.) in Bethany.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
– Texas A&M-Commerce is 14-11 on the season with a 6-7 mark in the LSC for sixth place in the league standings
– The Lions have dropped their last three matches with 3-1 setbacks to Harding (Ark.) and Tarleton State and a 3-0 defeat to Texas A&M-Kingsville
– Junior right side hitter Taryn Driver leads the Lions offense with 252 kills (2.80/set) on a .173 clip
– Sophomore setter Courtney Tate is fourth in the conference with 9.87 assists per set, recording 918 this season

Madelyn Johnson has helped spark the Mustangs offense with her play at the service line this season
– Johnson ranks 55th nationally and second in the Lone Star Conference with 38 aces
– Johnson needs just nine more aces to climb into the single-season top 10 list in the MSU record books where she could become the first Mustang to accomplish the feat since Shay Velasquez set a single-season school record of 71 back in 2007
DISHING IT OUT
– Midwestern State has relied on true freshmen setters
Hayden Blair and
Kendall Chamberlain to set up the MSU attack this season
– Blair has posted a season-best 41 assists three times with a team-high 11 double-doubles in 24 starts this season
– Chamberlain has recently taken the reins of the MSU offense, recording a season-high 34 assists at West Texas A&M while posting a double-double with 22 assists and 11 digs in her first career start against Cameron last weekend
