FOR STARTERS
Midwestern State closes out the 2015 season this weekend by hosting Lone Star Conference leaders Tarleton State and Angelo State at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

The Mustangs open up the weekend Friday with a 3 p.m. match versus Tarleton State before hosting Angelo State in a 2 p.m. contest Saturday in the season finale.

Last time out, Midwestern State fell 3-0 to Lubbock Christian in a Tuesday matchup at Ligon Coliseum. The Mustangs were led offensively by freshman middle blocker Olivia Schiffner with nine kills on a .444 hitting percentage. Sophomore outside hitter Meghan Bettis added seven kills for the Mustangs while recording a team-best 16 digs.

SCOUTING THE TEXANNS
– Tarleton State enters the final weekend of the regular season with a 23-5 record and 13-1 mark in the Lone Star Conference to sit atop of the league standings
– The TexAnns have reeled off 13-straight LSC victories following a 3-1 loss to Angelo State in the conference opener
– TSU is led by sophomore outside hitter Hailey Roberts, who is the national leader in kills per set (5.85), points per set (6.74) and total kills (608)
– Roberts is also second in the country with 59 service aces on the season
– Sophomore setter Chandler Gow is seventh nationally with 1,177 assists while senior middle blocker Kenya Alexander also makes an appearance in the top 10 with 133 blocks
– The TexAnns rank second in the nation with 1,442 assists and third with 1,514 kills and 272 blocks
– Head coach Mary Schindler is in her 11th season leading the TSU volleyball program with a 203-139 career record

INSIDE THE SERIES
– Tarleton State maintains a 26-23 advantage in the all-time series dating back to 1987
– The TexAnns recorded a 3-1 victory on Oct. 10 in Stephenville
– While Tarleton holds a lead in the all-time series, Midwestern has seen success at home versus the TexAnns with a 13-8 advantage at Ligon Coliseum
– In 2013, the Mustangs rallied from a 2-0 deficit to record a 3-2 win over TSU in Wichita Falls

SCOUTING THE RAMBELLES
– Angelo State comes into the final weekend with a 26-5 record and 12-2 mark in the LSC for second place
– Like Tarleton, the Rambelles also sport one of the nation's top offenses, led by sophomore outside hitter Brianna Sotello and junior outside hitter Mallory Blauser
– Sotello ranks 17th in the country with 406 kills while Blauser is close behind with 392 for 26th
– Senior setter Maggi Jo Keffury leads the nation with 1,323 assists, averaging close to 12 per set
– Senior libero Katie MacLeay also ranks high in the national statistical rankings with 590 digs (5.27/set) for 17th
– Head coach Chuck Waddington is in his eighth season with the Rambelles, carrying a 190-76 record

INSIDE THE SERIES
– Angelo State is 26-11 in the series against Midwestern State
– The Rambelles also lead 9-7 in matches played in Ligon Coliseum
– ASU recorded a 3-0 win over Midwestern State back on Oct. 9 in San Angelo
– The Rambelles have won the last 13 in the series with the Mustangs last picking up a win on Oct. 30, 2008 with a 3-2 victory in Wichita Falls

RAWSON ERA BEGINS
– Former Midwestern State assistant coach Natalie Rawson was tabbed the eighth head volleyball coach in program history back on Mar. 24, 2015
– Rawson spent the last two seasons as the head coach at Newman (Kan.), leading the Jets to a 30-26 record and their first Heartland Conference postseason appearance in four years in 2014
– Rawson spent three seasons as an assistant coach at MSU from 2010-12

MUSTANGS SPORT YOUTHFUL ROSTER IN 2015
– Rawson returns to a young roster in her first season back at Midwestern State
– The Mustangs' roster features nine newcomers with eight true freshmen and one junior college transfer on the 16-player roster
– Midwestern's roster includes one lone senior and just four upperclassmen
– With a couple of injuries to the Mustangs upperclassmen, the newcomers have seen a considerable amount of court time this season
– The Mustangs have started at least three freshmen in all but three matches this season with five appearing in the starting lineup against Lubbock Christian (Sept. 26), Texas A&M-Commerce (Oct. 3), Dallas Baptist (Oct. 3), Angelo State (Oct. 9) and Tarleton State (Oct. 10)

BETTIS, PORTER PACING MUSTANGS
– Sophomore outside hitter Meghan Bettis and senior outside hitter Hunter Porter have led the Mustangs offense this season with Bettis registering a team-high 253 kills (2.58/set) while Porter is close behind with 249 (2.37/set)
– In her first season playing for the Mustangs in 2014, Porter tallied a team-best 2.48 kills per set for 223 on the year
– Bettis' numbers have increased drastically during her sophomore campaign after totaling 78 kills as a freshman

ACE YOUR FACE
– Junior libero Madelyn Johnson has helped spark the Mustangs offense with her play at the service line this season
– Johnson ranks 80th nationally and third in the Lone Star Conference with 38 aces
– Johnson needs nine more aces to climb into the single-season top 10 list in the MSU record books where she could become the first Mustang to accomplish the feat since Shay Velasquez set a single-season school record of 71 back in 2007

DISHING IT OUT
– Midwestern State has relied on true freshmen setters Hayden Blair and Kendall Chamberlain to set up the MSU attack this season
– Blair has posted a season-best 41 assists three times with a team-high 12 double-doubles in 26 starts this season
– Chamberlain has also seen a considerable amount of time at setter this season, recording a season-high 35 assists and 12 digs at Texas A&M-Commerce (Nov. 6) while posting 22 assists and 11 digs in her first career start against Cameron (Oct. 30)
