WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Behind the play of freshman middle blocker Jenna Gillean, Cameron hit .319 to record a 3-0 victory (25-17, 25-20, 25-13) over the Midwestern State volleyball team Friday evening at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

Gillean led the Cameron (15-6, 6-6 LSC) offense with 17 kills while committing zero errors on 31 swings for a .548 hitting percentage.

For the Mustangs, sophomore outside hitter Meghan Bettis had one of her better outings of the season with 15 kills on a .306 clip. Freshman setter Kendall Chamberlain recorded her first career double-double with 22 assists and 11 digs while junior libero Madelyn Johnson led all players with 16 digs.

A 4-0 start for Cameron in the first set helped the Aggies control the pace early. Midway through the frame, Midwestern State (5-21, 0-12 LSC) pulled back within two following a kill by sophomore middle blocker Addison Semer for a 14-12 contest. However, a 7-0 spurt led by four kills from Gillean gave the Aggies a comfortable lead at 21-12 before going on to claim the first set, 25-17.

After Cameron took another early lead in the second set at 6-2, the Mustangs battled back to make it a one-point game at 7-6 following a kill from senior outside hitter Hunter Porter. The teams went back and forth for a majority of the set with Midwestern taking its first lead at 20-19 after another Porter kill. The Aggies reclaimed the lead shortly after, recording the final six points to take a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-20 victory.

In the third set, Cameron held the Mustangs to a .026 attack percentage as the Aggies broke open a tight set in the early going. Gillean and freshman middle blocker Kayla Allen helped Cameron stretch a two-point lead to six as the Aggies went in front at 10-4. MSU errors put the home team in a deep hole down the stretch as Cameron earned the sweep with a 25-13 third set win.

Midwestern State begins a three-match road swing Saturday when the Mustangs travel to Southern Nazarene for a 2 p.m. contest at the Sawyer Center in Bethany, Oklahoma.
