FOR STARTERS
Midwestern State continues its homestand Friday at D.L. Ligon Coliseum when the Mustangs host Texas Woman's in a 5:30 p.m. match before a Saturday doubleheader against Texas A&M-Commerce at noon and Dallas Baptist at 2:30 p.m.

The Mustangs hosted West Texas A&M in their Lone Star Conference home opener Tuesday, falling to the Lady Buffs in a 3-2 contest as WTAMU rallied from a 2-0 deficit.

Freshman middle blocker Olivia Schiffner led the Mustangs with 12 kills and just one error on 33 swings for a .333 percentage. Freshman libero Matti Dix posted a career-high 32 digs to lead the Mustangs on the defensive end.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
– Texas Woman's comes in with a 10-3 record and 3-1 mark in LSC play
– The Pioneers have recorded conference wins over Eastern New Mexico, West Texas A&M and Texas A&M-Kingsville while falling to Tarleton State
– Freshman outside hitter Makayla Mayfield has posted a team-best 141 kills (3.28/set) while hitting .228 this season. She also is the team leader with 13 service aces
– Senior middle blocker Hillary Shaffer is second for the Pioneers with 121 kills (2.81/set) and is hitting a team-high .348 that ranks third in the LSC and 49th nationally
– As a team, the Pioneers crack the top 50 in the nation in digs per set (17.49) and opponent hitting percentage (.140)
– Head coach Shelly Barberee is now in her 13th season at TWU, carrying a career record of 220-180
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
– Texas Woman's holds a 26-15 record in the all-time series versus Midwestern State
– The Mustangs are 9-10 against the Pioneers inside Ligon Coliseum
– TWU swept Midwestern last season with a 3-1 win in Denton and a 3-2 victory in Wichita Falls

– Junior middle blocker Taryn Driver leads the Lions with 170 kills (2.98/set) on a .220 percentage
– Head coach Craig Case is in his sixth season with an 85-79 record at TAMUC
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
– Midwestern State is 14-18 all-time against Texas A&M-Commerce but holds an 8-7 advantage in matches at Ligon Coliseum
– The two teams split last season with the Lions pulling out a 3-2 win in Commerce before the Mustangs recorded a sweep at home
 
SCOUTING THE LADY PATRIOTS
– Dallas Baptist comes in at 7-4 with a 4-2 record in the Heartland Conference
– The Lady Patriots are 1-4 on the road this season, winning just two sets in those four losses
– Junior outside hitter Carly Hess leads DBU with 106 kills (2.59/set) while sophomore hitter Brooke Manley is close behind with 96 (2.53/set). Manley ranks ninth nationally with 0.61 aces per set with 21 in 38 sets this season
– Head coach Cathy Kokel is in her 13th season at the helm of the DBU volleyball program
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
– Midwestern State is 35-18 against Dallas Baptist with a 16-7 mark at home
– The Mustangs earned a 3-2 win over the Lady Patriots last season in Dallas
 
BURTON ERA BEGINS
– Former Midwestern State assistant coach Natalie Burton was tabbed the eighth head volleyball coach in program history back on Mar. 24, 2015
– Burton spent the last two seasons as the head coach at Newman (Kan.), leading the Jets to a 30-26 record and their first Heartland Conference postseason appearance in four years in 2014
– Burton spent three seasons as an assistant coach at MSU from 2010-12
 
MUSTANGS SPORT YOUTHFUL ROSTER IN 2015
– Rawson returns to a young roster in her first season back at Midwestern
– The Mustangs' roster features nine newcomers with eight true freshmen and one junior college transfer on the 18-member roster
– Midwestern's roster includes one lone senior and just five upperclassmen
– With a couple of injuries to the Mustangs upperclassmen, the newcomers have seen a considerable amount of court time this season
– The Mustangs have started at least three freshmen in all but three matches this season with five appearing in the starting lineup against Lubbock Christian (Sept. 26)
 
ACE YOUR FACE
– Junior defensive specialist Madelyn Johnson has helped bring some momentum to the Mustangs with her play at the service line this season
– Through 57 sets, the Alvin native is second in the LSC and 21st nationally with 24 aces on the season
 
DISHING IT OUT
– True freshman setter Hayden Blair has had to adjust to the college game pretty quickly, appearing in all 57 sets and making 14 starts to lead the Mustangs offense
– The McKinney product has posted a season-best 41 assists twice in wins over Pace (N.Y.) and Southwestern Oklahoma State and has totaled a team-best seven double-doubles
 
BETTIS LEADING THE WAY
– Sophomore outside hitter Meghan Bettis has already surpassed her kill total (78) from the 2014 season, leading the Mustangs offense with 144 kills at 2.67 per set this season
– The Dripping Springs native has led the Mustangs in kills in eight matches with a season-best 18 coming against Ouachita Baptist
 
LOOKING AHEAD
– Midwestern State will wrap up a five-match homestand Tuesday with a 6 p.m. match against Southern Nazarene (Okla.)
