Midwestern State battles Cameron in the 67th edition of the Red River Rivalry Saturday afternoon at Aggie Gym in Lawton. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
SCOUTING THE AGGIES
- Cameron has dropped four of their last five games heading into Saturday's showdown with Midwestern State, but is 7-2 at Aggie Gym this season.
- The Aggies (10-8) rank 15th in NCAA Division II boasting a 50.4 field goal percentage and rank very well nationally two other important categories as CU is 20th in rebound margin (+7.0) and 26th in field goal percentage defense (40.2).
- Junior forward Deondre Ray leads a group of four Aggies averaging in double figures pouring in 15.3 points per game. The transfer from McClennan College is shooting 51.6 percent from the field while pulling down 4.4 rebounds a game. Ray has scored in double figures in 13 of 16 games this season with four 20-point efforts.
- Senior guard Desmond Henry scored 15.7 points per game while scoring in double figures in each of his last three outings including a season high 23-point showing against Tarleton State. Henry sports averages of 11.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists this season.
- Junior forward Jamaal Brantley has scored in double figures in five of his last six games to pull his season scoring average to 11.2 points per game. he also pulls down 4.8 rebounds a contest.
- Junior guard Cameron Lee, a transfer from Division II Francis Marion (S.C.), averages 10.2 points per game.
- Junior guard D.J. Jackson ranks fifth in NCAA Division II with a 3.36 assist-to-turnover ratio.
- Nate Gamet is in his season second season at the helm of the Cameron men's basketball program. He boasts a 21-23 record (.477).
ABOUT THE SERIES
- Midwestern State and Cameron meet for the 67th time on the hardwood Saturday afternoon at Aggie Gym.
- The Mustangs own a 43-23 edge in the overall series which dates back to the 1968-69 season.
- Midwestern has won the last three meetings between the programs and 12 of the last 13 dating back to the 2006-07 season with the Aggies' lone victory coming by a 64-63 margin on Jan. 23, 2013 in Lawton.

- Midwestern State split a pair of Lone Star Conference games last week falling to Angelo Staet Wednesday night home before defeating Texas A&M-Kingsville on the road.
- Angelo State snapped MSU's 11-game overall winning streak which dated back to a 63-50 loss at St. Mary's (Texas) on Nov. 30.
- The home loss to ASU also broke a 14-game winning streak at D.L. Ligon Coliseum dating back to an 83-81 setback to Tarleton State on Jan. 15, 2014.
- Midwestern State continues to rank amongst national leaders as the Mustangs are second in total rebounds (808.0), third in total blocks (108.0), fourth in field goal percentage defense (37.9), fourth in 3-point field goal defense (27.9), sixth in rebound margin (+10.6), seventh in blocked shots per game (5.7) and 10th in offensive rebounds per game (15.16).
- MSU lost the battle on the boards for the first time in 11 games as it was out-boarded by Angelo State 41-37. It was just the second time this the Mustangs didn't win the battle on the glass.

Bretson McNeal (Minneapolis, Minn. / DeLaSalle HS (North Dakota State Science)) scored eight points in a game closing 10-2 run including a pair of 3-pointers to lift the Mustangs to a 75-71 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday at Steinke Center.

McNeal matched a season-high with five triples while pulling down six rebounds and dishing out five assists against Texas A&M-Kingsville after being held to three points as he fould in 16 minutes against Angelo State.
- Junior forward
Khapri Alston (Chicago, Ill. / Thornwood HS (Northeast CC (Neb.))) has scored in double figures in each of his last five games after going for 12 points and seven rebounds against Angelo State and 14 points and four rebound at Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Alston is averaging 14.2 points and 7.2 rebounds while shooting 52.1 percent from the field over the last five games.
- Senior guard
Derrell Gibbs (Wichita Falls, Texas / Burkburnett HS) knocked 4-of-10 shots from the arc last week against Angelo State and Texas A&M-Kingsville as he finished in double figures for the fourth time this season with 10 against the Rams.
- Senior forward
Abiodun Adegoke (Buford, Ga. / Mill Creek HS (Western Texas)) scored nine points and pulled down three rebounds before fouling out in 10 minutes Saturday at Texas A&M-Kingsville.
THE HAGGERTY ERA

Nelson Haggerty is in his fourth season at the helm for Midwestern State as one of the top young coaches in college basketball.
- Haggerty boasts a 91-25 mark (.784) leading the Mustangs to Lone Star Conference championships in each of his three seasons as head coach.
- Haggerty earned NABC South Central Region and Lone Star Conference coach of the year honors in his rookie season of 2011-12 piloting the Mustangs to their third consecutive Elite Eight showing.
- With Haggerty on the bench (including two seasons as top assistant), MSU has advanced to three Elite Eights (2010, 2011, 2012) and to the NCAA Division II postseason five consecutive years.
