NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Midwestern State took a pair of matches off of NCAA Division I Stephen F. Austin before falling to the Lady Jacks 6-1 Saturday morning at the Schlief Tennis Complex.
The match originally slated for Friday was delayed by rain, but the Mustangs delivered a strong showing against the Southland Conference foe.
Junior
Lauren Pineda combined with sophomore
Courtney Anderson to take a 6-4 win over SFA's Denise Maxl and Macarena Sadano Acosta at No. 2 doubles to provide MSU with its lone doubles' win.
SFA rallied for wins at the Nos. 1 and 3 position to take the lone doubles point.
MSU junior
Lindsay Nochowicz, a transfer from Tampa, claimed the Mustangs' singles win taking a 6-0, 6-4 decision over Sedano Acosta at No. 6.
Midwestern takes on Texas-Arlington in a second exhibition match Saturday in Arlington before opening regular season play against Central Oklahoma on Feb. 14 at the MSU Tennis Center.
