SCOUTING THE PATRIOTSDallas Baptist (1-1) split a pair of Heartland Conference matches last weekend falling to Newman 3-1 Thursday in Wichita, Kan. then swept Oklahoma Panhandle State Saturday afternoon in Goodwell. Senior middle blocker Tiara Iwegbu-Gipson leads the DBU attack at 3.57 kills per set while freshman middle blocker Sidnee Jo Fitzpatrick adds 3.00 kills per set. Junior setter Kaycie Bird boasts an 11.50 assists per set average while directing the Patriots to a .289 team attack percentage. Junior defensive specialist Hannah Ballew leads back row efforts at 3.57 digs per set, while Iwegbu-Gipson gives the Patriots a solid net presence with 1.14 blocks per set.

ABOUT THE SERIESMidwestern State meets Dallas Baptist for the 53rd time on the court Tuesday night at Burg Center. The Mustangs own a 34-18 edge in the series and are 11-9 against the Patriots in Dallas.

LAST TIME OUTMidwestern State rolled to a 3-1 record at the Hampton Inn-vitational last weekend at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The Mustangs rolled to wins in third first three matches against Colorado State-Pueblo, Fort Lewis (Colo.) and Southwestern Oklahoma State before taking a five-set loss to Arkansas Tech.

MOLLOY, GARFIELD GAIN ALL-TOURNAMENT HONORSMidwestern State middle blocker tandem Kat Molloy and Sarah Garfield earned all-tournament honors at the Hampton Inn-vitational. Molloy, a senior from Seattle, averaged 2.65 kills and 1.18 blocks per set while posting seven total blocks in wins over CSU-Pueblo and Fort Lewis. Garfield, a sophomore from Wichita Falls, put down 2.50 kills and notched 0.94 blocks per set highlighted by a 10-kill, 7-block effort against Southwestern Oklahoma before going for 12 kills with one error (.393) against Arkansas Tech.

FLETCHER TOPS LEAGUESenior defensive specialist Casey Fletcher leads the Lone Star Conference with a 6.71 digs per set average after the opening week of play. The Eddy native notched a career-high with 36 digs in a five-set win over Colorado State-Pueblo on Friday then followed the effort with 29 against Fort Lewis (4 sets), 20 against Southwestern Oklahoma (3 sets) and 29 against Arkansas Tech (5 sets).

THE DOUBLE-DOUBLE MACHINEJunior outside hitter Nicole Marzik delivered three kill/dig double-doubles during Hampton Inn-vitational play. The Prosper native performed the feat against Colorado State-Pueblo (11 kills, 17 digs), Fort Lewis (11 kills, 12 digs) and Arkansas Tech (18 kills, 16 digs).

GETTING IN ROSINKESophomore setter Sarah Rosinke ranks second in the Lone Star Conference averaging 10.35 assists per set. The League City product notched a career-high 52 set assists against Colorado State-Pueblo then added her second career 50-assist performance Sunday against Arkansas Tech.

FRESHMEN SHINING THROUGHRight-side Addison Semer knocked down 15 kills (.464) in her collegiate debut Friday against Colorado State-Pueblo and didn't stop there. She added 10 kills (.444) against Fort Lewis and had 10 more (.206) versus Arkansas Tech. Not be out done, outside hitter Meghan Bettis contributed 10 kills in her collegiate debut against CSU-Pueblo then notched 13 kills (.345) against Fort Lewis.
