ON THE PITCHMidwestern State concludes a five out of six-game home stand this weekend playing host to Texas A&M International on Friday and St. Edward's (Texas) on Sunday.

SCOUTING THE DUSTDEVILS- Texas A&M International rode a 3-0 start with wins over Ouachita Baptist, West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico to a No. 6 ranking in the NSCAA Top 25 before dropping consecutive results to Fort Lewis (Colo.) and St. Edward's.
- The Dustdevils are coming off of a 3-0 win over Texas-Permian Basin Monday night in Odessa.
- TAMIU boasts a 2-0 road mark this season taking wins over West Texas A&M and Texas-Permian Basin.
- Sophomore forward Ryan Hodgson leads the Dustdevil attack with three goals notching tallies in each of TAMIU's first three matches of the season.
- Senior midfielder Jovany Macias and junior forward Robert Dominguez have two goals each in support of Hodgson.
- Former MSU Mustang Solomon Montezume carries a 1.33 goals against average into Friday night's match with MSU. He boasts two clean sheets and a .765 save percentage.
- Texas A&M International claimed its first Heartland Conference title posting a 9-7-2 overall record with a 7-1-1 showing in league play in 2013 sharing the crown with St. Edward's.

ABOUT THE SERIES- Midwestern State meets Texas A&M International for the 11th time on the pitch Friday night at the MSU Soccer Field.
- The Mustangs own an 8-0-2 edge in the all-time series which dates back to the 2008 season.
- MSU is 5-0-1 against the Dustdevils in games played at the MSU Soccer Field.
- TAMIU scored their first two goals of the series in a 3-2 loss in its last trip to Wichita Falls. Midwestern had shutout the Dustdevils in each of the previous nine meetings.

ABOUT THE HILLTOPPERS- St. Edward's rides a three-match winning streak into weekend play as the Hilltoppers battle St. Mary's Friday night in San Antonio before making their way to Wichita Falls.
- The Hilltoppers will play their sixth and seventh matches away from the confines of Lewis-Chan Family Field and have won the last four after taking a 2-0 season opening loss to Colorado Mesa in Grand Junction.
- SEU dropped its lone home match 2-1 to 8th-ranked Metropolitan State (Colo.).
- Freshman midfielder Primo Covarrubias paces the Hilltopper attack with three goals -- all coming in tough matches against Fort Lewis, Metro State and Texas A&M International.
- Freshman midfielder Samuel Jackson is the only other SEU player to account for multiple goals. He tallied both of his in a 4-0 win over West Texas A&M.
- SEU enjoys solid play in goal by junior Kevin Lieb, who boasts a 0.83 goals against average with an .839 save percentage including shutouts versus Fort Lewis, West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico.

ABOUT THE SERIES- Midwestern State takes on St. Edward's for the 35th time on the pitch Sunday afternoon at the MSU Soccer Field.
- The Mustangs own a commanding 26-4-4 edge in the series which dates back to the 1987 season.
- MSU is 15-2-1 all time against the Hilltoppers in Wichita Falls, but SEU claimed a 2-1 win in their last trip to the MSU Soccer Field on Sept. 20, 2013.
- St. Edward's victory last season snapped a 17-game winless streak which included three ties since the Hilltoppers claimed their previous victory in 2003.

ABOUT THE MUSTANGS- Midwestern State rolled to its fifth straight win taking a 4-2 result over St. Mary's (Texas) Sunday afternoon at the MSU Soccer Field.

Andrew Power (Waterford, Ireland) and sophomore
Paul Sunderland (Manchester, England) form the most dominant center midfield duo in the country at this point in the season.
Power has found the back of the net in all but one of MSU's matches this season and ranks sixth in NCAA Division II with seven goals -- just one behind the national leader.
Sunderland leads the nation in total assists with six.
- Junior defender
Call Casarez (Austin, Texas) notched his second goal of the season off of a corner kick in the 16th minute Sunday against St. Mary's.
- Senior forward
Len Smith (Baton Rouge, La.) extended his consecutive games with a goal stretch to three heading in a goal in the 58th minute Sunday against St. Mary's. He accounted for a goal and an assist against Lubbock Christian on Sept. 15 before notching two tallies against Newman on Sept. 19.
- Junior midfielder
Juan Farres (Bogota, Colombia) notched his first goal of the season on a free kick from 20 yards out Sunday against St. Mary's. He ranks 83rd in NCAA Division II with a 1.13 goals against average to go along with a .708 save percentage.
- Senior goalkeeper
Nick Petolick (Frisco, Texas) snapped a streak of three consecutive shutouts by letting in two goals Sunday against St. Mary's.

HOME FIELD MYSTIQUE- Midwestern State owns a 54-3-5 mark (.911) at the MSU Soccer Field since the start of the 2008 season.
- The Mustangs boasted a 44-match unbeaten streak stretching from the 2007 postseason into the 2012 season.
- MSU is currently on a 9-match home unbeaten streak since taking a 2-1 loss in double overtime to St. Edward's on Sept. 20, 2013. The Mustangs are 8-0-1 on its home pitch since with the draw coming against Eastern New Mexico.

THE DOUG ELDER ERA- Doug Elder is in his 15th season at the helm of Midwestern State.
- Elder remains NCAA Division II winningest active coach in terms of percentage at 211-48-26 (.786).
- Elder is a six-time NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year (2003, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011).
- Elder's teams have advanced to the NCAA Division II postseason nine times while making five national quarterfinal appearances twice advancing to the Final Four.
- Elder needs 11 wins to overtake Howard Patterson (221-85-20 from 1973-89) as the program's all-time leader in coaching wins.
