ON THE FLOOR
Midwestern State and Eastern New Mexico are both in search of their first Lone Star Conference win Tuesday night at Greyhound Arena then returns to the dome to take on Cameron on Friday.
 
SCOUTING THE ZIAS
- Eastern New Mexico has won three of its last five matches, but is coming off of a 3-0 loss to 20th-ranked West Texas A&M a week ago in Canyon.
- Sophomore outside hitter Lauren Frye ranks sixth in the LSC with 3.24 kills per set while hitting an efficient .270 from the floor.
- Frye has put down at least 10 kills in five of her nine matches this season including a campaign-best 20 against Fort Lewis (Colo.).
- The Zias boast a strong net game ranking fifth in the league at 2.15 blocks per set led by senior middle blocker Agatha Gibbons (1.09) and Frye (0.74).
- Sophomore defensive specialist Lindsay Bost leads back efforts averaging 3.94 digs per set.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
- Midwestern State meets Eastern New Mexico for the 29th time on the court Tuesday night at Greyhound Arena.
- The Zias own a slim 15-13 edge in the series as the teams have split the 12 meetings in Portales.
- MSU and ENMU split matches last season with the Mustangs claiming a four-set win in Portales while the Zias swept MSU in Wichita Falls.
 
SCOUTING THE AGGIES
- Cameron had its modest two-match winning streak snapped Saturday at Texas Woman's.
- The Aggies played in three consecutive five-set matches prior to suffering the sweep to TWU. CU is 3-1 this season when extending the match to a deciding set.
- Junior outside hitter Kat Evans leads a trio of Aggies averaging more than two kills per set at 2.82, while freshman outside hitter Jordan Escobar and senior middle hitter Rebecca Green put down 2.26 and 2.21 kills per set respectively.
- Cameron ranks second in the LSC in team digs per set (18.44) lead by freshman defensive specialist Cristina Viera (4.26 dps) and junior outside hitter Shannon DuLaney (3.21 dps).
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
- Midwestern State meets Cameron for the 49th time on the court Friday afternoon in Wichita Falls.
- The Aggies lead the overall series 30-18 and have won 13 of the 23 matches between the programs played in Wichita Falls.
- MSU has won the last four meetings including season sweeps in 2012 and 2013.
- Cameron's last win came in four sets on Nov, 1, 2011 in Lawton.
 
MUSTANGS NOTEBOOK
- Midwestern State looks to snap a seven-game skid Tuesday night against Eastern New Mexico.
- The Mustangs last dropped seven consecutive matches from Oct. 5-20, 2012 and last suffered an eight-match losing streak from Sept. 27-Oct. 11, 2002.
- Junior outside hitter Nicole Marzik averaged 3.12 kills and 3.25 digs per set over four matches last week for the Mustangs.
- Marzik blasted a career-high 20 kills while finishing off her team-best seventh double-double with 18 digs Friday at Texas A&M-Commerce.
- Junior outside hitter Hunter Porter put down 3.00 kills per set last week while three consecutive double-figure kill totals finishing with 14 at Southern Nazarene, 15 at Texas Woman's and 16 at Texas A&M-Commerce.
- Redshirt-freshman outside hitter Angel Summers erupted to put down a season-high 13 kills at Texas A&M-Commerce before leading the Mustangs with 12 kills against Texas-Permian Basin.
- Sophomore middle blocker Sarah Garfield notched seven solo blocks over four matches last week, then recorded her fourth double-digit kill effort of the season with 10 Sunday against Texas-Permian Basin.
- Marzik (2.76) and Porter (2.72 rank ninth and 10th in the LSC in kills per set.
- Senior libero Casey Fletcher continues to lead the LSC with 6.00 digs per set.
 
MUSTANGS UNDER VENERA FLORES-STAFFORD
- Venera Flores-Stafford is in her 11th season at the helm at MSU posting a 174-159 record (.523).
- The Mustangs are 68-78 (.466) in Lone Star Conference play during the Flores-Stafford era.
 
UP NEXT
- Midwestern State travels to Alva to face Northwestern Oklahoma State next Tuesday before battling Lubbock Christian on the road on Friday then returns home to take on LSC foe Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday.
