ON THE FLOOR
Midwestern State looks to rebound from a three-game skid Tuesday night against Southern Nazarene at Sawyer Center. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
 
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON STORM
- Southern Nazarene won three of four matches last weekend at the South Central Classic in Durant, Okla. The Storm lost in four sets to No. 5-ranked Washburn before bouncing back with wins over Langston, New Mexico Highlands and Missouri Southern.
- Senior middle blocker Taylor Jacobs and sophomore outside hitter Lexie Matthews pace the SNU attack with 3.34 and 2.07 kills per set.
- Senior setter Kaylee Piatt directs the Crimson Storm to a .192 team attack percentage while averaging 9.39 set assists per set.
- Sophomore defensive specialist Abbey Bell leads a solid back row at 4.17 digs per set, but freshman defensive specialist Elyse Berlin (3.00), Piatt (2.64), freshman defensive specialist Dani Chase (2.11) and Jacobs (2.10) all average better than two digs per set.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
- Midwestern State meets Southern Nazarene for the 29th time on the court Tuesday night at Sawyer Center.
- The Mustangs own a commanding 21-7 edge in the series including a 9-4 advantage against SNU in Bethany.
- MSU has won the last eight meetings between the programs including a 3-0 victory last season in the MSU/Hampton Inn-vitational.
- Southern Nazarene's last win came by a 3-1 margin on Sept. 10, 1996 in Bethany.
 
MUSTANGS NOTEBOOK
- Midwestern State lost three straight last weekend including Lone Star Conference setbacks to 24th-ranked Angelo State and Tarleton State before falling to Harding (Ark.) -- all at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
- Senior libero Casey Fletcher continues to lead the Lone Star Conference with 6.38 digs per set.
- Fletcher has logged 20-or-more digs in six of her eight matches this season including a season-high of 36 in the season opener against Colorado State-Pueblo.
- Sophomore middle blocker Sarah Garfield rates eighth in the LSC with 1.00 blocks per set. Thirteen of her 31.0 total blocks have been of the solo variety which ranks as the second highest in the league.
- Junior outside hitter Nicole Marzik leads the team at 2.55 kills per set while notching four kill/dig double-doubles including a 10-kill, 19-dig effort Saturday against Angelo State.
- Sophomore setter Sarah Rosinke ranks fourth in the LSC with 8.56 set assists per set.
 
MUSTANGS UNDER VENERA FLORES-STAFFORD
- Venera Flores-Stafford is in her 11th season at the helm at MSU posting a 174-155 record (.529).
- The Mustangs are 68-76 (.472) in Lone Star Conference play during the Flores-Stafford era.
 
UP NEXT
Midwestern State returns to Lone Star Conference taking on Texas Woman's Friday night in Denton before traveling to face Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday.
