WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State erupted for nine runs in the third inning to roll to a 10-1 run-rule win over Texas A&M-Kingsville in Game 1 Sunday afternoon at Mustangs Park.

The Mustangs improved to 22-9 on the season and to 10-1 in Lone Star Conference play by extended their current winning streak to eight games.

MSU sent 13 players to the plate -- 10 after the second out -- in the decisive inning which was ignited by a one-out double to right field by
Katelyn Vinson.

Baylee Voigt and
Erin Knox ripped run-scoring doubles to plate the first two runs before
Haley Howerton and
Kelley Schaefer delivered back-to-back two-run singles to set up
Katy Vandewater's 10th homer of the season on a two-run shot to right field.

Vandewater extended her current hitting streak to eight games, while Vinson and Voigt have collected safeties in six and five games, respectively.

Freshman
Erin Knox allowed an earned run in the first inning then settled in to allow one run on five hits with a strikeout and walk in 5 innings. She improved to 10-2 on the season after winning her ninth consecutive decision.

Carlie Clark took the loss for the Javelinas to fall to 3-11 yielding 10 runs -- eight earned -- on nine hits with five walks and two strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings.

Jaeleen Castro and Valerie Ramirez had two hits each to pace Texas A&M-Kingsville.
