ON THE COURT
Midwestern State returns to D.L. Ligon Coliseum this week to take on McMurry Thursday night at College of Faith (Ark.) on Friday. Both games tip off at 7 p.m.
 
SCOUTING THE WARHAWKS
- McMurry dropped its third straight game falling to Texas Lutheran 80-66 Tuesday night in Seguin to move to 2-3 on the season.
- All of the Warhawks' five games have been played away from their home court at Kimbrell Arena this season.
- McMurry boasts wins over Concordia (Texas) 101-93 and Centenary (La.) 94-89.
- The Warhawks are 0-2 against Division II competition this season losing to Angelo State (104-48) and Lubbock Christian (72-55).
- Senior forward Connor Robinson pours in 25.5 points and pulls down 11.8 rebounds a game to lead McMurry. The Austin Bowie High product poured in 44 in the season opener against Concordia then scored 37 against Centenary.
- Sophomore guard Jordan Holmes also delivered big outings with 24 against Concordia and 26 against Centenary. The Silsbee native averages 17.5 points per game.
- Senior guard Alex Lewis drops in 13.3 points and reels in 5.5 rebounds a game. The Converse Judson High product netted a season-high 21 against Centenary.
- The Warhawks averaged 75.4 points per game and allow 85.
- Clif Carroll is in his second season at the helm for McMurry after serving as an assistant at Division I Lamar. He owns a 13-18 overall mark for the Warhawks.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
- Midwestern State meets McMurry for the 75th time on the hardwood Thursday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
- The Mustangs own a 55-19 edge in the series which dates back to the 1946-47 season.
- MSU is 32-5 all time against McMurry in Wichita Falls and has won all 14 meets played at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
- This is the first regular season meeting between the programs since MSU claimed a 117-91 win on Jan. 17, 1990 at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
- Midwestern has won seven of the last eight meetings between the programs with McMurry's lone victory coming by a 108-99 score on Nov. 15, 1988 in Abilene.
 
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
- College of Faith dropped to 2-5 on the season falling at Delta State 88-71 Monday night in Cleveland, Miss.
- The Warriors owns wins over Bethel (Tenn.) and State Fair Community College (Mo.).
- Forward Mike Campbell paced the Warriors with 20 points and four steals Monday night at Delta State, while guard Trent Littlejohn had 14 points and four assists.

- Midwestern State and College of Faith meet for the first time on the hardwood Friday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
 
MUSTANGS NOTEBOOK
- Midwestern State dropped a pair of games at the St. Mary's Thanksgiving Classic in San Antonio falling to Missouri Southern (77-71) and St. Mary's (63-50).
- The Mustangs dipped to 4-3 on the season.
- Senior forward Abiodun Adegoke (Buford, Ga. / Mill Creek HS (Western Texas)) erupted for a career-high 18 points converting 7-of-8 shots to go along with a season-high nine rebounds Saturday against Missouri Southern.
- Redshirt-freshman guard Devante Pullum (Little Elm, Texas / Little Elm HS) averaged 12.5 points per game at the St. Mary's Thanksgiving Classic coming on early Saturday for junior guard Bretson McNeal (Minneapolis, Minn. / DeLaSalle HS (North Dakota State Science)), who left with a leg injury in the opening minute against Missouri Southern.
- Pullum knocked down two 3-pointers on his way to 14 points against Missouri Southern, then finished with 11 points in his first collegiate start Sunday against St. Mary's (Texas).
- Senior forward Xavier Blackburn (Verdunville, La. / St. Thomas More HS (North Dakota State Science)) notched a season-best 16 points to go along with three rebounds and five steals Sunday against St. Mary's.
- Blackburn has scored in double figures in each of his last three games.
- Senior guard Derrell Gibbs (Wichita Falls, Texas / Burkburnett HS) buried a season-best three 3-pointers to finish with nine points Saturday against Missouri Southern.
 
THE HAGGERTY ERA
- Nelson Haggerty enters his fourth season at the helm for Midwestern State as one of the top young coaches in college basketball.
- Haggerty boasts a 79-24 mark (.767) leading the Mustangs to Lone Star Conference championships in each of his three seasons as head coach.
- Haggerty earned NABC South Central Region and Lone Star Conference coach of the year honors in his rookie season of 2011-12 piloting the Mustangs to their third consecutive Elite Eight showing.
- With Haggerty on the bench (including two seasons as top assistant), MSU has advanced to three Elite Eights (2010, 2011, 2012) and to the NCAA Division II postseason five consecutive years.
 
DOME MAGIC
- Midwestern State boasts a 545-128 all time mark (.810) in the 46-year history of D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
- MSU won 70 consecutive games under the dome from Jan. 5, 1973 to Jan. 24, 1977 then peeled off 41 straight victories from Nov. 18, 2008 to Feb. 16, 2011.
- The Mustangs are 39-4 (.907) at Ligon Coliseum during Nelson Haggerty's tenure at the helm (2011-present).
- Midwestern's current home winning streak is eight games dating back to an 83-81 loss to Tarleton State on Jan. 15, 2014.
 
UP NEXT
Midwestern State takes a break for finals week before hitting the road to take on Nova Southeastern and Lynn on Dec. 13 and 15 in Florida. The Mustangs then travel to Rapid City, S.D. to take on South Dakota Mines before returning to the dome to take on Saint Gregory's (Okla.) on Dec. 21.
