Porter, Molloy pace Mustangs to sweep of A&M-Commerce

WICHITA FALLS, Texas — Junior outside hitter Hunter Porter slammed down a team-high 12 kills to help Midwestern State to a 25-15, 25-19, 25-19 Lone Star Conference win over Texas A&M-Commerce Friday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

The Mustangs snapped a five-game skid to improve to 7-17 on the season and to 3-10 in league play.

MSU continues a three-game home stand by taking on Texas Woman's University Saturday afternoon under the dome. First serve is set for 2 p.m.

Midwestern used a strong defensive effort to take control of each set forcing the Lions into 26 attack errors and a .078 team attack percentage.

Sophomore middle blocker Sarah Garfield recorded four total blocks, while senior Kat Molloy and freshman Addison Semer chipped in three total blocks each.

Sophomore defensive specialist Madelyn Johnson paced back row efforts with 18 digs, while sophomore setter Sarah Rosinke notched a double-double with 29 set assists and 10 digs.

Molloy polished off an outstanding night on the attack with nine kills without error in 15 attacks for a sterling .600 attack percentage, while Garfield and freshman Meghan Bettis had five kills each.

Neka Nelson paced A&M-Commerce with 12kills while senior Amy Devault put down her 1,000th career kill on her way to a 10-kill performance.

The Lions fell to 4-20 overall and to 2-10 in LSC play.
