Midwestern State squares off with West Texas A&M as part of the Highway 287 Challenge Cup series Tuesday night at the WTAMU Fieldhouse. WT owns a 4-1 edge in the series claiming two points in football and one each in women's soccer and volleyball, while MSU's lone point came in men's soccer. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
 
SCOUTING THE BUFFS
- West Texas A&M ran its Lone Star Conference winning streak to 33 matches while extending its current string of success to 12 straight with a sweep of Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday afternoon in Canyon.
- The Lady Buffs hold a commanding three-game lead in the LSC volleyball standings at 11-0.
- WT boasts the most efficient attack in the LSC while ranking 12th in NCAA Division II with a .261 team hitting percentage.
- Senior outside hitter Lauren Bevan paces the WT attack rankings 11th nationally in total kills (292) and 14th in kills per set (4.11). Both numbers rate second in the LSC.
- Junior middle blocker Lexi Davis ranks second in the league with a .336 attack percentage.
- Versatile senior outside hitter/setter Kameryn Hayes in the only other Lady Buffs averaging more than two kills per set at 2.62 (.317 attack percentage) while pacing the team with 7.28 set assists per set.
- Junior middle blocker Jessica Johnson paces WT at the net with 1.05 blocks per set as the Lady Buffs rank 19th nationally in team blocks per set (2.33).
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
- Midwestern State meets West Texas A&M for the 29th time on the floor Tuesday night in Canyon.
- The Lady Buffs have won each of the previous 28 meetings including each of the 12 matches played in Canyon.
 
MUSTANGS NOTEBOOK
- Midwestern State dropped its seventh and eighth straight matches on the road falling in straight sets to Tarleton State and Angelo State last weekend.
- The Mustangs are currently tied with Texas A&M-Commerce for the eighth and final berth in the LSC Postseason Tournament at 2-9 with five league matches to play.
- Senior defensive specialist Casey Fletcher (Eddy, Texas / Moody HS) ranks seventh in NCAA Division II in total digs (425) and is 25th nationally in digs per set (5.45). Both numbers also lead the LSC.
- Sophomore middle blocker Sarah Garfield (Wichita Falls, Texas / Holliday HS) ranks eighth in the LSC with 1.02 blocks per set and has at least three total blocks in each of her last seven matches.
- Junior outside hitter Nicole Marzik (Prosper, Texas / Prosper HS (Fairfield)) leads the MSU attack with 2.45 kills per set, while junior outside hitter Hunter Porter (Red Oak, Texas / Red Oak HS (Emporia State)) adds 2.42 kills per frame.
- Sophomore setter Sarah Rosinke (League City, Texas / Clear Springs HS) ranks fifth in the LSC with 0.34 service aces per set.
 
MUSTANGS UNDER VENERA FLORES-STAFFORD
- Venera Flores-Stafford is in her 11th season at the helm at MSU posting a 176-167 record (.513).
- The Mustangs are 70-83 (.458) in Lone Star Conference play during the Flores-Stafford era.
