ON THE COURT
Midwestern State takes on Lubbock Christian in a non-conference matchup Wednesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
 
SCOUTING THE LADY CHAPS
- Lubbock Christian has won seven of its last eight matches with the only setback coming to West Texas A&M last week in Canyon.
- As a provisional NCAA Division II member, the Lady Chaps are ineligible for postseason play but currently lead the Heartland Conference with a 9-1 mark.
- LCU ranks third in the Heartland in team hitting percentage (.223), but lead the league in kills per set (14.25).
- Junior right-side hitter Maddie Johnson rates second in the HC with 3.71 kills per set, while freshman outside hitter Channing Castleberry adds 3.02 kills per set.
- The versatile Lady Chaps boast five players averaging more than two kills per set also including junior middle blocker Amy Edwards (2.65 kps), sophomore middle blocker Ariel Froeschl (2.26 kps) and senior outside hitter Abby White (2.20 kps).
- Senior setter Erin Fisher leads the Heartland Conference with 11.71 set assists per set.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
- Midwestern State meets Lubbock Christian for the 27th time on the court Friday night in Lubbock.
- The Mustangs own a 14-12 edge in the series and are 7-3 all time against the Lady Chaps at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
- Lubbock Christian claimed a 3-1 win over MSU on Oct. 3 at Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock. Maddie Johnson led the way with 19 kills, while Channing Castleberry had 16. MSU junior outside hitter Nicole Marzik (Prosper, Texas / Prosper HS (Fairfield)) had 13 kills to lead the Mustangs.
 
MUSTANGS NOTEBOOK
- Midwestern State split a pair of Lone Star Conference home matches last week claiming a sweep of Eastern New Mexico on Friday before falling in three sets to West Texas A&M on Saturday.
- MSU's three-set win over Eastern New Mexico was just the second sweep for the Mustangs this season and the first since defeating Southwestern Oklahoma 3-0 on Sept. 6.
- Midwestern State had its second best attacking match of the season hitting .234 against Eastern New Mexico Friday night at Ligon Coliseum. It was just the fourth time MSU hit .200 or better as a team this season.
- Junior outside hitter Hunter Porter (Red Oak, Texas / Red Oak HS (Emporia State)) paced the Mustangs with seven kills and seven digs Friday night against Eastern New Mexico.
- Senior middle blocker Kat Molloy (Seattle, Wash. / Graham (Wash.) Kapowsin HS (North Idaho)) came off of the bench to put down seven kills Saturday against West Texas A&M.
- Freshman outside hitter Addison Semer (Bastrop, Texas / Bastrop HS) averaged 1.50 blocks per set last weekend with four total blocks against Eastern New Mexico then had five more against West Texas A&M.
- Senior defensive specialist Casey Fletcher (Eddy, Texas / Moody HS) continues to lead the LSC with 5.45 digs per set.
 
MUSTANGS UNDER VENERA FLORES-STAFFORD
- Venera Flores-Stafford is in her 11th season at the helm at MSU posting a 176-164 record (.518).
- The Mustangs are 70-81 (.464) in Lone Star Conference play during the Flores-Stafford era.
