MUSTANGS SERVE UP HOMESTAND
Midwestern State begins a three-match home stand Tuesday night against Eastern New Mexico at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. First service is slated for 7 p.m.

LAST WEEK
The Mustangs suffered consecutive setbacks to No. 15 West Texas A&M, No. 9 Angelo State and Tarleton State to start Lone Star Conference play with an 0-3 mark. MSU fell to 1-26 against nationally ranked competition since the start of the 2007 season. The Mustangs pushed Angelo State to the brink building an 11-9 fifth-set lead before committing five consecutive attack errors to let the upset slip away.

SCOUTING THE ZIAS
Eastern New Mexico (3-7, 1-1) snapped a four-match skid by splitting a pair of Lone Star Conference matches last week. The Zias swept Cameron Tuesday in Lawton before suffering a 3-0 loss to Texas A&M-Kingsville in Portales. ENMU is making its second appearance under the dome this season as the Zias split their four matches in the MSU/Hampton Inn-vitational falling to Southwestern Oklahoma and Southern Nazarene before taking wins over McMurry and Northwestern Oklahoma on Sep. 6 and 7. Freshman OH Courtney Lawson leads the Zias with 3.28 kills and a .145 attack percentage while ranking second on the squad with 3.17 digs to go along with 0.50 blocks per set. Lawson has produced at least nine kills in each match this season including a 20-kill, 2-error effort at New Mexico Highlands. Junior MB Agatha Gibbons and senior MB Bree Anna Lucero lead a strong effort at the net with 1.15 and 1.03 blocks per set, respectively. Senior DS Hayley Couch leads the back row with 5.64 digs per set.

ABOUT THE SERIES
Midwestern State and Eastern New Mexico meet for the 27th time on the court Tuesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The Zias own a slim 14-12 edge in the series and have won five of the nine matches between the teams in Wichita Falls, but MSU has won the last eight meetings between the programs dating back to the 2004 season.

MSU OFF TO QUICK START
Midwestern State cooled off last week, but opened the season with seven wins in its first eight matches. The Mustangs have already matched their win total from last season as the start was the best since the 2008 team rolled out to an 18-0 mark.

WALLACE LEADING WAY
Senior middle blocker Caitlin Wallace continues to lead the Lone Star Conference with a .385 attack percentage to propel her to a team-best 2.92 kills per set. The Amarillo product has committed no more than three attack errors in any match this season while putting down 10-or-more kills on six occasions. Wallace has also come alive at the net with multiple blocks in each of her last four matches including five total blocks last week against West Texas A&M and Angelo State.
